I just met my sister at Sego Lily Cafe for lunch. I don't know where I got the idea that it was an Asian restaurant; it's contemporary American. We had a lovely time chatting over wine and wonderful cuisine. The servers were knowledgeable, pleasant and attentive without being intrusive. The fresh rolls and butter were a nice touch while waiting for our plates to arrive. I ordered the Poached Salmon Salad and asked for crumbled goat cheese. They were accomodating without charging extra.
My sister delighted in her Penne di Caprino with creamy goat cheese, artichoke hearts, sun dried tomatoes and roasted garlic.
While there are tables only, the ambiance was calm and comfortable. I would like to return with my husband for dinner and dine al fresco when the weather is warmer. If not ordering wine, the price is quite acceptable. Perhaps we'll bring our own bottle and pay the $10.00 corking fee.
I highly reccomend Sego Lily Cafe to diners with discerning tastes who want to keep an eye on their expenditures.
Enjoyed the Sego Lily for dinner last night. It was the first time for me. It exceeded all of my expectations. The setting is romantic, intimate, and wonderful. The service was superb. The food was fabulous. I highly recommend the salmon. The chicken with artichoke hearts and sun dried tomatoes was mouth watering, too. Excellent bottle of Chardonnay to compliment the evening.
Thank you Sego Lily for a very memorable and enjoyable evening.
I have visited Sego Lily on a number of occasions and have had a wonderful experience each time. The menu has an amazing variety and the taste is wow! I had great service. I found our servers knowledgeable and polite. I enjoy the comfortable setting and the NON-hussle and bussle. I was able to enjoy my meal each time with my adult children. I am pleased to have a place in Bountiful that is pure quality (not some kind of chain) and look forward to each visit. P.S. I think Julia would have found this place Marvelous. Enjoy
i am also sorry to hear of your experience at the cafe. i have had nothing but exceptional sevice whenever i have gone there. You really cant complain about not getting something that they are unable to make. When ever i go there they do everything to make my visit comfortable and enjoyable. when I have gone there I have had Isaac as my serve and he has been full of laughter and energy. i guess there are some people that you can please and some you just cant. I can tell you that i will be going back.
Took two friends from out of town to dinner; I'd had two previous, wonderful lunches there (the sego lily fries were to die for!) Lunches: great. Dinner: sucked. Head waiter explained they didn't have a blender, so NO, they couldn't make frozen drinks. He didn't smile when I offerred to run to D.I. to pick him up a blender. He then pointed out that the waitress in training had the wrong name badge on, so we shouldn't call her by the name on her badge (I'm NOT kidding!) He didn't smile again, when I asked if her real name badge had fallen in the blender, and was that why they didn't have one. He then explained that they didn't have bloody mary mix,so nok we certainly couldn't have that; so we finally settled on the $7.00 Copsmopolitans. We watched in amazement as the two waiters hand carried the drinks--glasses in hand--and dripped the drinks across the entire floor of the restaurant--I guess they don't have trays, either. They then put the dinks on the wooden table, with NO napkins, leaving the table wet and sticky. They didn't wipe up the mess. The salad looked like it had come from a 'spring mix' bag from the grocery store. Dinner at last: asparagus alfredo was impossible to eat--not fresh nor tasty at all; salmon was over cooked, served on a bed of raspberry(?) jam, served with a scoop of plain, white rice with nothing on it at all--not even a seasoning; sirloin meatloaf--which had been tasty at previous lunch--was drenched and covered in a slimy, overpowering bar-b-que sauce; vegetables were MUCH closer to raw than even hint of being cooked (sorry, but raw green beans are NOT tasty.) Dessert: creme-brule, which previously at lunch had been served covered in blackberries and raspberries, had nary a berry on it; the chocolate-mouse cake was FANTASTIC, however--it was so slow in arriving, that the time to enjoy it had long since passed. Numerous flies buzzed everywhere the entire time--guess all the sticky drinks and spills didn't help much. The jazz music was too LOUD! (they don't understand the concept of 'background music'.)I won't be back; they just don't get it at all.
This is hands down the best restaurant in Bountiful or anywhere near. Would be great for a romantic dinner or just a get-together with friends. Lovely service. Great food. The salmon and chocolate mousse cake were amazing! We'll be back!
We went there not knowing what to expect, but it was AWESOME! I got the Pesto Chicken, and the first bite was, HOLY COW, amazing! I was sad to see Cafe 305 go, but a better restaurant took its place. It is a must eat in Bountiful.
My wife and I just went to this little restaurant in bountiful and we were quite astounded. First they have a full liquor
license. We can now go have a good meal and a good glass of wine without having to go to Salt Lake. Very Nice!
I also must comment on the food. Most excellent! They have this salmon that is wrapped with prosciutto ham, and topped with a ginger berry sauce that is unlike anything I have had before. My wife had a wonderful pork dish with black beans and squash, she truly enjoyed that.
What a wonderful blessing to have such a unique place so close to my home. We love Sego Lily Cafe.
