We ate at the Ivy House on Sunday May 2, 2010. We waited to be seated for about 20 minutes and then it was another hour and ten minutes before we got our food. We took an elderly widow with us for her birthday. If she had not been with us we would have left. Two orders were only hamburgers, the other 2 were cod. It will be a while before we go back again.
On this particular day I would not rate it more than a 2.
The Ivy House in Alachua was wonderful! The environment was extremely charming. The old victorian style house & the carefully manicured garden was well worth the trip from Columbia County. The food was very good. Service was a little bit slow but again, it was worth it!
The Ivy House in Alachua is well worth the trip. The service was excellent on 10/18/2009. The food was delicious, presentation beautiful and we had a wonderful view of their garden. Food this well prepared takes time and yet we were never kept waiting. Our server was attentive and we lacked for nothing. Save room for their delicious homemade desserts. I would reccomend the Ivy house for a group or an individual as they are well planned for both. The rooms set aside for groups are so comfortable and welcoming. You will not be dissappointed.
I heard many nice things about The Ivy House in Alachua, but when my husband and I went to celebrate my birthday, the waitress was very loud. She announced 'we could have anything' when we asked about sides. I wanted to exchange no salad for fried green tomatoes. She said can't be done. I chose macaroni and cheese. When our orders came, I couldn't believe macaroni and cheese could ever look the way it did. We were very disappointed in the meal, and will never go back. We had cod, but we didn't expect it to look like elongated tater tots! They had NO taste/flavor. I only ate one. I asked the waitress for a to-go box, but she didn't seem to be bothered I didn't eat any cod.
Bottom line...we will never go back there again. We had to get a bottle of wine later when we left to try to forget the meal.
