We have been to this place three times. My family grew up in Southeast Asia. We know what good Chinese foods are. This is not a great Chinese restaurant.
However, the price we pay for what we get is fair. The foods are ok for us.
We have two things to complain.
1- Most foods are salty. It seems that they choose the general restaurant trench. Salt makes people taste better. Unfortunately, salty foods are not good for you. Their foods are pretty salty.
2- They charge us a great amount of money for drinks. I drink either hot tea or hot coffee. Ehhhhhhhh! that was not the way they wanted to serve their customer. Drinks department needs improvement.
We have been to other Chinese buffet restaurant in the area. This one would be the low end of the trench.
Food wasn't anything special and on the bland side. Service did not exist. For lunch on Sunday, they charged 40 bucks for two adults and one child.
The miso soup tasted re heated, the spring rolls were really greasy, and half the buffet items needed to be refilled. This place can bite it.
Don't even remember how good the food was.
Soo... For a buffet you'd think that you buy a drink and it has endless refills. Not here. My friends and I went with ample money and when the check came they charged us for the refills. We didn't have enough money and had to have our friend's mom pay for the food since we didn't have enough. It's horrible they didn't let us know. It left us embarrassed and stuck between a rock and a hard place. Get real China Buffet. Don't charge your customers for refills on SODA.
If you are in the Sunrise Mall area and are hungry, this place is definately worth it. The place is clean, the food is great, and the place has good value. The Mongolian grill is not as good as you would find at a real Mongolian restaurant, but it is still pretty good. They have lots of seafood during dinner time including lots of shrimp dishes and, my daughters favorite, steamed crab legs. You would spend at least the same amount at Panda Express, but wouldn't have nearly the variety and value. Try it!
I have had dinner 3 times in the past few months here. Maybe there was a change in ownership but there has been a huge improvement. This was rated by Sacramento News and Review's best buffet for 2008. They currently have a huge fruit bar, Chinese, American, Italian, seafood, and sushi (although if you are looking for all you can eat sushi visit Midori across town.) The servers are pleasant, though sometimes distracted. Last time I was there the host was talking on her cell phone as she seated us. Otherwise the food is good, I often see people with huge plates of crab - my favorite is the coconut shrimp.
I am unsure why other reviewers we're so negative about this buffet, but I like this one more than the one on Greenback.
They have a lot more food variety and I've gone during the week and on weekends with my wife 10+ times since it opened. The service is great and they do make sure your drink is full and your dirty plates are taken away in a timely manner.
Yes, many of them speak broken english but hey come on its a real chinese buffet!
