Peak Tram

Description

The Peak Tram ascends the steep incline of Victoria Peak, offering visitors a convenient way of getting to the peak and all its sightseeing amenities. The Tram, which is itself an attraction, dates back to 1888 with new and larger cars installed in 1989. Passengers sit back for a literally vertical ride enjoying panoramic views as the car steadily makes its way to the top. The lower terminus station is located on Garden Road near St. John's Cathedral. Trams depart every 10 to 15 minutes.

Great view, but experience is just ok
Too many tourists, too long lines, long wait, and everything at the top is expensive. You have to do it for the view, but try not to eat up there-- total ripoff. Go at dusk so you can experience the skyline during the day and at night.

~The best view of Hong Kong~
By ,
Taking the tram up to Victoria Peak is an iconic Hong Kong experience. The tram ride itself is fun - it's a funicular that travels at an incredibly steep angle up to the peak. The views from the top let you see (on a clear day) all of Hong Kong and across the water to Kowloon. There are also some random other things at the peak - a cozy coffee shop at the station, a shopping mall, some walks through (I assume) the surrounding park. But the highlight for me was really just the overlook.

Blast from the Past

riding the Peak Tram is definitely worth the ride! Try visiting in summer where the fog is at the minimum, you'd get a bird's eye view of Hongkong on the way up. It is a thrilling ride and the kids would absolutely enjoy it.

Give me a break
first day, the sun was shinning down... way too hot. Guess i wasnt the only one thinking going up the peak, cause the queue for the tram was mega long weaving like a snake. I did cheat i caught the bus from the star ferry, i beleive i could have walked in in 5 mins. i dediced to try walking it, boy how wrong was i. i got to the second tram stop and was exausted, and beleive me i consider myself fit and plenty of stamina. well the second day i attempted it again, but i was told i could catch a 16 seater bus up with was less used by tourist and cheaper than the tram, but id get the same view if i can down, so i thought why not. great view and great country walks

Interesting trip to top of HK Island
By ,
The Peak Tram gives you a view of HK Island from the side and top of Victoria Peak. Try to visit on a clear day if possible, it will allow for the best views at the top. I especially enjoyed the glimpse of how residents of HK live, since many of the high-rise apartment buildings are built right on the side of the mountain.
