Kowloon Mosque & Islamic Centre
One of four principal mosques in Hong Kong and the largest Islamist worship center in the city. Friday sermons are delivered in English, Arabic and Urdu. The traditional Muslim architecture of the mosque stands out strongly among the modern, rational architecture of nearby structures. Four high minarets mark the corners of the building, and white marble is used extensively on both the facade and the pavings. Only Muslims are allowed in the facility; non-Muslims are not permitted to enter, but may admire the structure from the street. The Space Museum is a few blocks away.
The mosque is beautiful. I will never go to that area of Hong Kong again. Surrounding the mosque are a hundred or more shady characters of all descriptions harassing passers by with attempts to sell them fake Rolex watches, purses, drugs etc. etc. A terrible blight on a sacred place. The personnel from the Islamic center should engage the police to help rid this area of Kowloon of what felt like to me stray dogs that wanted my money and were willing to do most anything to get it. If there were not so many people on the streets this would be a great place to get robbed. I might add that none of the dogs were Chinese.
