Mercato (Il), Hong Kong

An alternative to the over-priced and slightly superficial neighbouring eateries and bars, Il Mercato is more down to earth than most in Lan Kwai Fong, serving up basic Italian pasta, lasagne and pizza at prices not found in this area for years. Situated in a basement, it fills up fairly fast on Friday nights with hungry drinkers making a saving on the meal to make way for more alcohol. Service is brisk and if you want to eat out on the road, take advantage of the take-away service.
