Felix, Hong Kong

We attempted to make a reservation for four adults and our almost 4 year old (adopted from China) and were told no child under 12 is allowed. I travel all over the world and have not encountered this primative policy in over 10 years. I have been frustrated many times by patrons in restaurants but is was always adults who did not know how to control their alcohol. I would encourage all not to support this establishment until they understand this policy is totally unacceptable and not suitable in any culture.

The food at Felix is excellent, I'd nearly go as far as to say awsome. However its not hard to find awsome food when you're prepared to pay these kind of prices and the last time I did, I wasn't treated like something the waitress found on the bottom of her shoe. Had the staff at Felix played the role of caring, smiling hosts rather than arrogant sour faced (so and sos) who like to make it clear that some tables are more important than others, then I might have enjoyed spending $1500 per head. As it was, I have experienced better 'service' at certain fast food outlets.

Felix is Philippe Starck's project at the top of the Peninsula Hotel Tower, which opened in 1994. The whole place is just extremely cool and happening, right from the moment you step into the elevators. Then of course there are the bathrooms, which everyone goes to check out. The main stage, with its long table/bar/catwalk, dominates the space. Don't forget the wine bar and the disco room at the bottom of the two tower/turrets. I still see Felix as one of the best places to go for a drink, with its fantastic views of Victoria Harbor (more importantly, it's a view of HK side). Food is not bad but not spectacular.
