Brasserie on the Eighth
Only those with a heightened sense of taste and style should eat here - to waste the atmosphere simply because of being hungry would be sacrilege! A meal in this five star restaurant might not change your life, but it will certainly affect your bank balance. The views over Hong Kong at night are the highlight and should not be missed, so make sure you request a window table when you make a reservation. Dine with someone special because this is a special place.
The Brasserie has long been my favorite restaurant in town. The location in a 5-star hotel means the service is excellent. At the same time, since it is a brasserie, it is a lot less formal than other establishments in similar settings, and this is reflected in the lower pricing.
The kurobuta (black pork) from Japan is excellent, as is their bouillabaise and souffle. After years of complaints, they have finally got it right on the pan-fried foie gras and it is no longer too charred and dry for my taste.
