Unmistakable as a good old-fashioned Italian American eatery, this restaurant offers huge servings of salad, bread, pasta and other dishes. Recommendations include Rigatoni Bolognese, Chicken Mostaccioloi, and a truly decadent Chocolate Mousse - to die for. This is a great place if you fancy bringing your friends or family to an urban but homey atmosphere. The service is prompt and the decor creates a comfortable and very American atmosphere to dine in.
Don't go expecting to impress others or to be impressed yourself. If, like me, you spend a lot of time up-country and you come to Hong Kong looking for something/anything other than Chinese food and you're on your own nickel, it works just fine.
Also good for families with kids. If you refuse to let them eat Burger King (right next door, so be prepared), FA's is something familiar for them that you can say 'yes' to and afford.
This is a chain of value-oriented Italian restaurants which reminds me of the family-style places in Little Italy in NYC and elsewhere. Red checkered table clothes, wines served in regular instead of wine glasses...etc.
The portions are HUGE. The salad is unlimited, and the bread is actually pretty good. Which leaves you a lot less room for the dishes you actually ordered and pay for. The meatball spagetti will easily feed 2, as will many other dishes.
You can easily leave with a bill of less than US$10 per person, unless you start ordering alcohol. That's good value in HK.
