Ruby Tuesday - Kowloon Bay Restaurant
Ruby's follows the tradition of many American-style bar and grill combinations, serving huge portions of steaks, burgers and pasta with cheapish beers on the side. Clean and modern, the restaurant is conveniently divided into 30 percent smoking and 70 percent non-smoking area. The place does lack in character, unlike Mad Dogs immediately below. There is no happy hour because the beer, which costs around HK$30 a pint, is pretty cheap anyway.
I've been at Ruby Tuesday several times and always for lunch as it is pretty close to my office! Their lunch set is simply not as attractive as it is in any other food court where the food is better, there are more choices and you pay way less! Staff is very well trained to welcome the guests, the door manager will bring you to the table, where a waiter manager tells you that you will be served by this or that waiter. This long procedure involves already 3 persons, that somehow you will end up paying with your final bill! They have a salad bar that cost you a little fortune (it should be around 100 HK$ or more) and if you order a "bloody" lemon ice tea, they will charge you something like 45 HK$ if I well remember! Being an american restaurant, you would expect to find a burger among the set lunch, but there isn't a normal burger, you'll find only 2 tiny burgers that put together cannot make up for a Mcdonald's hamburger! So my suggestion is to avoid this place and go for better choices in Telford Plaza or the nearby Megabox! If you are in mood for western food, California Pizza Kitchen at 11th floor of Megabox is a good bargain with set lunch at 70 HK$ including dirnk with unlimited refill!
