Ferry Building Marketplace
The Ferry Building Marketplace is a must-see for San Francisco visitors. This multi-million dollar development has an abundance of activities for the entire family. Take a tour of the historic Ferry Building, browse through antique shops, enjoy a view by the bay and a bowl of chowder at Ferry Plaza Seafood, or buy organic produce at the Farmer's Market. Enjoy the sights and sounds of what makes the Ferry Building one of the Bay's most popular destinations for entertainment, food, and fun.

Bring lot's of money to spend on the big selection of food! You may walk away with more than a few bags of stuff (and a full belly). See the Bay Bridge and take a stroll to walk of the lunch and dinner. Many things to see and do near by.
We truly enjoyed going to the farmers market here! At the time my children we're 6 and 1 and my 6 year old remembers the delicious food there and is looking forward to going back. There was so much to choose from at great prices not just at the farmers market, but the shops inside as well. We were just visiting family in the area and we couldn't pass up the great products at a great value so we decided to purchase some items and make a home cooked meal for our family. I would recommend everyone of any age to attend the Ferry Market, especially when the Farmers Market is happening.
The refurbished and remodeled Ferry Building is San Francisco's newest treasure. It now resembles (on a smaller scale) the great Gallerias of Italy, such as that in Milan and Naples, both physically and in its new function as a great place to shop and buy great food. The many stores sell the very finest in local produce -- you can get almost anything edible here, from rare wild mushrooms to caviar to hand-crafted italian style gelato (ice cream). Prince Charles and his new wife spent half a day here on their recent visit. No visitor to San Francisco should miss this place. In fact, I'd put it way above Fisherman's wharf on my itinerary.
They restored the Ferry Building Marketplace in 2004 and it's now a beautiful arched ceiling shopping arcade (lined with very pricey cheese, bread, chocolate, and other food foods). On the weekends there is also a farmer's market (with pricey vegetables, fruits, nuts, and plants). Also, there is a lovely wide boardwalk adjacent to the Ferry Building which is a great place for strolling or jogging.
I personally found Pikes Market in Seattle so much more vibrant, interesting, and charming.
