BarAcuda is one of the few really good restaurants around the coast of Kauaithis sharp little tapas restaurant is different and refreshing. The passion in food can be seen in the ever changing brief menu, which is recreated or updated every week. The recipes here are innovative and devoted to fresh and seasonal produce, so you get only the best. You might encounter slow-braised beef short ribs with date and almond salsa seca, fried fish cakes, creamy polenta salt or any number of items to share. The dining room is intimate or you can relax outside among the lush greenery on tables in the covered wooden porch.
For starters, the service is extremely rude, starting with the tall blonde hostess. Nothing like walking into a restaurant and not feeling welcome! This restaurant needs to hire someone new (and kind) right away. Service was decent, but the overall experience lacks, to say the least (since the initial person one meets at the hostess stand is so disagreeable). To be honest, there are some pretty good dishes here, but WAY over priced and more importantly, the vibe in this place is just rude. It is not worth it and you will leave hungry and annoyed by this restaurant. Skip this place, or you will feel ripped off and hungry, BAD IDEA all around. I've been to all of the restaurants in Kauai and this place ruins the great vibe of Hanalei in general. If you are tempted, go for a $15 glass of wine and a tiny plate of food that costs $20 to test it out.
Awesome food. The tall blonde hostess that greet you is not very welcoming. We waited for a table for over 45 minutes and we had reservations. We sat at the bar and watched while people were seated ahead of us. Everyone else at the restaurant soooo friendly. It was just sad to see that a nice restaurant hired an immature, snobbish woman to give the first impression of the place. The pork chop was the best I ever had. The local produce and fish are used all over the menu. Everything is very fresh.
