We have been going back to Cabana since it openned. We have always been extremely happy with the service, the food is to die for.
This last month they seemed to go through a turn over of staff, the new staff is showing a lot of inexperience, suggest they work on that.
Overall, this has been our favorite restaurant in GR. We used to think the Belt Line Bar was the best, it is still good, but Cabana is still number one.
The owner told us a few years ago the recipes came from his mother, all I can say is, what a great cook. Wish some of the old staff was still there, they were excellent. Francisco, is one who was great.
I have been to this restaurant a few times and thought it was good, worthy of going back. But now I will never go back. My table of 14 had the worst experience ever. First the waitress was very inexperienced and could only carry two drinks at a time. Which we were all very patient with. But then it took a hour and a half to get our food. The waitress did come out and apoligize but once we got the food it was luke warm. A gentleman server came to our table while we were eating and asked how everything was. We told him our food was barely warm and he just walked away. Also we ordered maragaritas that were suppose to be made with contreau. Which they weren't and we were charged for them. There are so many restaurants to go to in Grand Rapids that this one is not worthy of a visit.
The Cabana is my favorite restaurant!!! I am ALWAYS satisfied with whatever I order. It is a great place for families, and gatherings. The food is always amazing and so is the bill! There are not many restaurants that you can enjoy yourself, eat your fill, have a good drink, and not pay a fortune. Go there, NOW! -melissa
We used to drive to Trini's in Sparta for great Mexican food, but now, we go to La Cabana. I like it even more than Trini's. The food is authentic and the service is wonderful. La Cabana also has very reasonable prices and a HUGE menu selection. We have gone multiple times and have never been disappointed.
Best Mexican resturant in the Grand Rapids area! We live a block away from Tres Amigos and disappointed we didnt discover the resturant sooner! Tres Amigos is our new favorite resturant! Plenty of food, good prices, very friendly staff, plenty of seating, plenty of parking, great wait staff, the best margaritas in town....we ordered a piece of strawberry cheesecake to go and it was yummy! No complaints!
Even though this place has been open for over a year, I didn't know it existed until we saw a coupon in some mailer we got (we don't get to the west side of Kentwood often). My boyfriend and I decided to check it out since we're always on the lookout for good, non-chain Mexican food.
We arrived for dinner at 7pm on a Tuesday. They weren't very busy at all. We were greeted and seated promptly. The menu is extensive and has a wide variety of options, including vegetarian, a la carte, and desserts.
I ordered the chicken fajita burrito which was DELICIOUS! The chicken was marinated to perfection and the combination of vegetables and cheese was wonderful. It was also huge. It took up most of a very large platter and was only $7.99.
My boyfriend decided on the Wet Burrito Grande with pork. The meat was tender, juicy and seasoned perfectly. And this burrito lives up to its name - it was massive. It was also $7.99.
The service was good. Our server was attentive - refilled drinks quickly and offered more chips when we were low. The food arrived quickly and was piping hot.
I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting to try a new Mexican place. We will definitely be returning very soon!
