Horsefeathers, Sherrills Ford

The food at Horsefeathers Roadhouse is phenomenal. I consider myself a barbecue connoisseur and when the general manager, JD, came by to check on our meal we started talking about his methods. Mostly he was (understandably) close-mouthed, but he did tell me that they smoke everything on site and that he uses a special blend of charcoal and smoking chips to strike the perfect balance between flavor and even heat. All I can say is, it works. Don't miss out on the "Hawg Wings"- they're an exclusive here. It's a pork shank cut, cooked like a rib, and so tender they fall off the bone. I didn't get a chance to try the smoked chicken, but I will next time! Full bar, the usual draft beers plus some excellent local options and a really nice laid-back atmosphere can be found here. A bit off the beaten path for the typical Mooresvillian, but well worth the few extra turns.
