(Nov 20, 2011) I was invited to a dinner and there was a group of about 15-18 of us. This was my first visit to Pearl's. I was not really impressed with the atmosphere but realize that ambiance doesn't necessarily dictate what the food and service is like. Overall, it would have been a nice experience, but after having the blackened catfish, I got food poisoning. Woke up about 4am next morning with stabbing cramps and diarrhea. That was the only meal I had that day, so I'm sure it wasn't anything else I ate. The sides I ordered were the same as some others had and no one else had the blackened catfish. Please be more cautious in food preparation, as it is no fun dealing with food poisoning. So glad I didn't have to go to the ER and still recovering. No...I will not be eating there again.
Recently had a chance to eat at Pearl's and thought it was excellent! The atmosphere was fun, the staff was friendly and the food was great! I especially enjoyed the char-grilled oysters! I also had seafood gumbo (which has oysters in it too!)and a grouper sandwich(wow!). Its so close to the FedEx Forum that we just walked over for the game and stopped back by afterwards for dessert. The homemade bread pudding and the bananas Foster were both huge and delicious. Pearl's is very affordable and comfortable. I'll definitely go back.
Went to Pearls Oyster House this past Friday night and if I am going to do an honest review I must stress that the appetizers were the best part of this experience. The Hot Crawfish dip was something just short of heaven...it comes served with miniature french bread chips. Another honorable mention goes to the Gulf Jumbo Lump Crab cocktail which is fresh crab meat served up like shrimp cocktail. It was really good as well. For my entree I had the shrimp and crawfish etoufee which was good but it was cold and I had to request extra rice because they only give you like a spoonful with the entree. My friend ordered the char grilled oysters which I tasted and I thought they were awful, but my friend (who has aquired a taste for oysters) thought they were delicious. She also had the Bronzed Alaskan Salmon which she enjoyed as well. We had some really great white wines with our meals at the request of the waiter. Overall this was a really good place to eat with friendly staff and GREAT atmosphere. I may just come back with my boyfriend for his birthday next month.
