FABULOUS FOOD AND SERVICE!!!! My husband and I went with another couple to celebrate my birthday! Each of us ordered a different menu item....and all were excellent and cooked to perfection. The service was great, the music wasn't too loud (just right) and I can't say enough about the taste of the food....excellent! Dessert was wonderful! The only negative was the coffee...too strong for my taste!
I visited this restaurant on October 2. My husband and I have wanted to try it for a while but wanted to wait until a weekend to enjoy the Jazz the list for the weekend.
When we walked in the door there was one (maybe two) tables occupied. I asked about being seated near the music but was informed there would be no music that night. Since I didn’t want to be seated near the kitchen as the noise seemed a bit loud we ended up being seated right next to the other group of dinners. We should have taken the seats near the kitchen as their conversations were very loud.
When our waiter came with the menu, we were given a list of the items not available. Too many to even remember them all. I found this odd for an early Saturday especially with the place so empty.
I ordered the “Local Salad.” While tasty, it obviously wasn’t very local. About the only thing local seemed to be the olive oil and maybe the tomatoes (that could have been riper). It was delicious but a very big salad to start a meal. My husband ordered the Caesar Salad and it was fine too. We both noticed no bread though and thought maybe they don’t serve it.
I ordered Duck Confit for my entre. While tasty it was rather dry and seemed more like just a slow roasted duck as opposed to a true confit. The spices were a nice mix. I asked to some other vegetable since the side it came with spinach. The waiter said it would not be a problem. My husband ordered the Steak Au Poivre. It was done correctly and he enjoyed the sauce. I did notice that instead of giving me an alternative vegetable, the just left it off. We asked the waiter as he brought the entrees about the bread. He said he’d get it right away. The bread did not arrive until we were almost done.
Service was a hit and miss, but it appeared the waiter was rather new to it. All in all, not bad, but I had hoped for more.
Agree with prior reviewers that food and atmosphere are always excellant. Add to that, the personable and professional service you will receive from Scotty's young staff and you have the complete picture of a fine dining experience.
This place is fabulous! The food is always fresh and usually local, the flavors exquisite, the ambiance quaint but trendy and the service ALWAYS top notch! Don't be afraid of the industrial park location, it's worth the drive AND the money. The cost is no more than any moderatly priced restaurant in the city and you don't have to drive. We eat there a couple times a month and it is always a supurb experience. Thank you Scottie for bringing Brentwood dining from predictable to Fantastic!
A wonderful dining experience. Don't be put off by the industrial park location. A varied and delicious menu, and the wine steward knows his stuff. Elegant presentation and some unusual touches, such as how the check is presented. Be sure to go there at least once. Not a cheap place to eat, but well worth it. Desserts are to die for!
