This has got to be the best place in all of SM to get sushi. Went last night the service was fast and friendly, we didn't feel rushed but welcome. The food was beautiful, and delicious. Great quality and fantastic selection. Although they didn't have the raw oysters everything else was amazing. the edemame and the tarantula roll to die for! Yes they had an incident occur that was a misconception but where it counts is the service and the food. And that is rockin at yanagi's.
Now they are killing pigs behind the restaurant! YUCK. What are they going to do next. I was told it was a Korean custom, do they not know they are in the United States, not Korea. I hate to think what else they have done in the back of the restaurant. Shame on them , they knew better. When you come to another country your customs have to stay in the country you came from. Especially if it means killing an animal in the driveway behind a restaurant. SICK I will never eat there agian, I can't imagine what else they are killing
i was sick today from flu, so i wanted to go sushi to eat light, healthy meal. (you know what i mean, deviate from heavy meal). anyways, i did notice quick bill in the middle of the meal. it was rude. it was only 2 pm. i ordered roll of spicy tuna and yellow tail. rice was not cooked right, presentation with yellow tail was that it was with only scallions!! one of the worst sushi i have eaten. my water was never refilled, never heard from the waiter again after the food. it wasn't even busy. food was way too pricey compare to the quality of the dish. i came twice now, and same result. very disappointing. i went home with sick feeling, plus my flu!!!
Not sure why the complaints for fast, attentive service.
I appreciated it myself. Did not feel rushed just well served.....
Nothing was removed without asking if I was done with it.
Presentation was on par with the food, both top notch.
This is the place.
I can see how some customers would feel rushed however, my husband and I went in to eat once about 10 min before they closed for lunch (we didnt notice the time) and we were served anyway and only asked to pay the bill early so they could close the register out. Other than that we were left to enjoy our meals. The staff has always been very friendly and the food is delicious, quick, and affordable!
My Mom wanted to go there for Valentines so we did! We sat at the bar among others. A couple sat to the right of us...thinking they were going to get a nice dinner. The food was good...but unfortunately their Valentine date lasted about 20 minutes( not exagerating) because before they even finished half their food they were given the check. It just didn't seem fair.
We have tried many other sushi resturants and have found Yanagi's to be the BEST...the freshes sushi around, we sit at the bar and enjoy watching the sushi chef's prepare our meals, we have never felt to be rushed thur our meals...as we order as we go and have gotten to know the staff ...as we are in there at least one to twice a week...my parents also enjoy the food and the friendliness of everyone there. Keep up the awesome job....thanks again for making our meals enjoyable'

I had never tried sushi before until I went to Yanagi's with some friends of mine. It was great!! the food was very tasty and the atmosphere seemed to go with the style of cooking. The price range for the quality of food is just right. I loved it and would reccommend it to any and everyone.
My friends and family usually go to a well known sushi restaraunt and decided to try Yanagi's. We were very dissappointed with the service. At first we were amazed at how fast they delivered our food to our table but then realized why!!! We felt as though we were being rushed in and out. We were being watched the entire time by the waitressing staff. Everytime each of us took the last bite from our plate it was removed immediately. We never finished our cocktails because we felt pressured to unoccupy the table we were using for the awaiting customers. We felt extremely uncomfortable and will never eat there again!!! We hope they take this review seriously because we were hoping to have a nice restaraunt in Santa Maria and we were very dissappointed.
i been there one time and the food was creative and tasty. love the whole watching my food being cooked. very friendly staff. i am taking my husband there for valentines day! a little pricy but worth it. about 16 bucks a plate.
