The manager at the Sake steakhouse by The Greene is such a b*tch. She's rude and has no customer service etiquette whatsoever. We had reservations and yet everyone in my party still had to wait 45 minutes. She kept making excuses why we had to wait.
We like their food but last time service was horrible. There was 4 of us so they waited for 2 more different couples to fill up the whole table before they started cooking the food (what a joy to wait 35 minutes at empty table with 4 other strange people showing up after us... and making us wait longer for our food)
My children gave me a gift certificate for Sake for Christmas and I misplaced it as we moved over the summer. I have since found the gift certificate but it was past the 12 month mark indicated on the certificate. I called the restaurant to explain and ask permission to still use it.Management was totally stand-offish and inflexible. It was $40 of my kid s hard earned money and we would have spent over $80 going there as a family. I explained this to the manager and that they are essentially turning away loyal customers (that is the only Japanese restaurant we go to). Management refused with zero sense of customer service. Very unfortunate.
We have been to one other location [miamisburg] and was disappointed there also, but since this is the new one was new we gave it a try.
We almost walked out without ordering when the waitress came to the table with our water on a very filthy tray containing food particles and cloudy water. Once she passed out the glasses of water she dumped the filth right in front of our faces in the hole on the grill! The portions were small compared to other hibachi restaurants we've been. Chicken was very dry and tough. Other food was OK. During his performance, the chef tried to give a little girl a piece of chicken throwing it in the air, when she couldn't catch it he put it in her mouth with his cooking utensil touching her mouth. Sanitary standard is questionable. We are not going back there.
A very heart-warming atmosphere; a quaint location and a smiling, efficient crew. The service is great! The waiters are very prompt and assiduous with refilling beverages and serving your meal to you hot. I ve never had to wait to be seated, even when the restaurant appears to be packed. You can t beat the half-off prices anywhere in town, especially for the quality of food that is presented. I highly recommend the eel. I have been a very satisfied customer for about a year.
Went to Sake with a friend Sunday Mar.17. Cook mixed up order and put my steak on her plate, Which she had been eating rice off of. When he realized his mistake he basically scraped my steak off of her plate onto mine, Again, She had been eating off of her plate for several minutes. We were both stunned and said nothing , Which I totally regret now. I did`nt leave a tip, But I should have either insisted he redo the order or I should have gotten up and left. I choked down my meal but was totally grossed out. I won`t go there again.
This was one of my favorite restaurants. We have to drive about 25 miles to get there and usually we are only able to go there on special occasions because it is so expensive. I have 3 children and so for a family of 5 it can be quite pricey. We went there this evening (3/22/09) close to closing and it was the worst experience I have ever had. The cook was very nice and made my children laugh so I have no complaint with him but our server was awful. From the moment we sat down you could tell that he was ready to go home and was sort of cranky. When the hibatchi cook finished and was pushing his cart away, he had not even made it to the kitchen yet and the waiter came to us with the check and asked if we were ready to pay. We had barely taken a couple bites of our food. My husband was a little shocked but gave him the card anyhow. All the employees were staring at us. They were gathered together holding their coats and looking at us and laughing while we tried to eat. While the waiter was away with our check another employee approached and asked if we needed boxes. We had hardly began to eat. It was very uncomfortable and I feel that when you are paying 20-25 dollars a plate, you can expect top notch service. When the man brought the boxes back to our table, he shoved them in my husbands face. They made it very clear that they wanted to close and they wanted us to leave. We put our food in the boxes and brought it home to eat. It was very insulting and I am sad to say that my favorite restaurant has now become my least favorite. I will never go there again and I plan to let everyone know what happened and if you read this can you please let others know. I am going to contact the manager tomorrow but it will make no difference because I am going to find another Japanese Steak House to take my business to.
