Root Restaurant is as well know for architectural and artistic decor as it is for it's fabulous food. Whether you're hoping to enjoy the ambiance of our indoor dining room, our locally crafted wood bar top, or the fresh breezes of our covered outdoor patio - there is room for everyone. Our atmosphere is inviting for romantic evenings, cocktails with friends, and family gatherings. We pride ourselves on serving locally raised meats from Everett Farms, locally roasted coffee from The Brown Bean, and we offer several local brews on tap and by the bottle.
The new owners have improved the menu and the quality of service. The food is delicious, with new flavor combinations beautifully presented. Waitstaff is friendly without being intrusive, and was very attentive to refilling water, tea, etc. Dessert was delicious, too. By all means, come to this restaurant for a delightful and casual meal!
I was sitting at a table close to that long winded whiner with the veggie burger and lack of mayo. You treated the staff with such disrespect. If I were the owner or staff I would have sent you on your way with a snub of the nose. You should be embarassed by your public behavior. I'm willing to bet you have never worked in food service before. You should get off your high horse and see that it's just a meal. Get over yourself! Eat at home! Restaurants don't want people like you in there anyway. It makes more room for people who know how to go out to eat!
a recent visit proved to be my last. the food took forever to arrive, along with the menu only half it seemed was available. the wait staff was the rudest i have ever experienced. my first impression was my last sorry! disgrumbled local!
Our experience here is consistently poor. The atmosphere is quite nice and the restaurant is very well designed and decorated. The food is also acceptable, but not first rate. The service is absolutely awful and the management equally unresponsive. Several weeks ago, my wife, daughter and I had lunch. We had to wait outside in a drizzle for a table for three even though there were several empty tables inside the restaurant when I left our name with the hostess. No one seemed to be working. We sat down about twenty minutes later and received our menus. It was quite some time before another server - not our waitress - took our drink order. The drinks arrived ten minutes later and the ice had melted in my tea. We were not told that there were several items on the menu that were unavailable. My wife ordered an egg salad sandwich and was told that it was unavailable that day. I ordered a veggie burger on a kaiser roll and my daughter requested buttered noodles. It took quite a long time, maybe twenty minutes, for our food to arrive. Other tables surrounding us received their orders much more promptly. When our food arrived, the waitress had picked up the wrong order for my lunch and had to return it. It took another ten minutes for my food to arrive. No condiments arrived with my veggie burger and it was rather dry. I asked for some mayonaise which arrived after another five minute wait and consisted of a small container holding about a teaspoon full of mayonaise. The waitress gave me an exasperated look when I asked for another container. By this time, the food was cold and almost inedible. Never once did the waitress apologize for less than prompt service or give any explanation for the delays. We were repeatedly offered refills on our beverages by the hostess only to wait five to ten minutes for a waitress to appear with a pitcher. After the meal, I paid the bill with a credit card and left a gratuity of 5%. I left the waitress a note on the back of one of the extra credit card slips which I had been left indicating the reason for my less than generous gratuity and my unhappiness with the service. My wife and daughter had gone across the street to the sorbet shop to by ice cream while I was waiting on the bill. We were sitting outside when the waitress came out and accosted us in a loud voice demanding to know why we were unhappy with the service she'd provided. I steered her away from the other customers who were waiting outside and listening to our conversation because I did not want to ruin their potentially pleasant dining experience because of my bad one. I tried to explain that the service was less than optimal and that they could certainly improve or at least have explained what the problem causing delays in service had been and apologized for it. The waitress was extremely agitated and in a very loud voice in front of everyone waiting outside for a table told me in no uncertain terms that if I did not like the experience, I could just choose not to return as she stormed off and slammed the restaurant door behind her. We mentioned this experience to the owner of a chocolate shop across from the restaurant. He just happened to be the father of the restaurant's owner. I left my card with him and asked the she call me. I am still waiting to hear from her two weeks later. I was appalled by this experience. Never have I been treated so poorly in a restaurant. I am a local and will be very vociferous in my condemnation of this establishment. People just don't deserve to be treated this way, no matter how busy the restaurant, no matter the quality of the food. Restaurants are always going to have off days, but they can make up for it in spades with a little common courtesy and respect for their paying customers. Degrading and haughty waitresses would have no place if this were my restaurant.
Not yet a year old, beautiful restaurant, locally owned by a young couple. Food is okay and prices a little higher than I like to see but manageable. Parking, like everywhere in Brevard, is horrid but one gets used to that or moves away.
