The Ahwahnee Hotel Dining Room - Ahwahnee Hotel, Yosemite National Park

If you like paying for a pretentious atmosphere instead of a good well prepared meal then this is the place for you. Average food at well above average prices. As soon as we arrived and checked in at the desk I was informed brusquely that I was 15 minutes early for my 8:15 seating but then in the next breath was told that they were seating on time tonight so don't wander off. Maybe that was the reason I arrived a few minutes early! I tried the halibut, which I was informed was flown in fresh that morning. Unfortunately, fresh or not, by the time it came from the kitchen it was so dry I it was almost impossible to eat. At least half remained on the plate. My wife tried a pasta and beef dish which could be found at any Bob Evans or maybe Cracker Barrell at a third of the price. The only saving grace of the entire evening was th efrench onion soup. We both agreed that was great. If in Yosemite and you would like excellent meal,at a reasonable price,served by courteous wait staff then go the Mountain View Room at Yosemite Lodge at the Falls. Our visit to the Awhanee took place on 10/16/08
