I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED SUCH AWFUL SERVICE IN MY LIFE. The terrible service really lends itself to the equally terrible environment KC sushi provides. I want to recount my experience for any potential customers before you waste your money. Upon entrance myself as well as the party I was with were shocked at the emptiness of the entire restaurant; considering that we had heard it was some of the best sushi around. We were greeted and sat at a table in the back of the restaurant. We would not be spoken to by our server for another fifteen minutes. Amongst the group we ordered four different sushi rolls. It took so long to receive them that the first rolls were warm when they came to the table. This wouldn’t have bothered me so much had we received our appetizers before the meal. We went the first half of the meal without water. Finally I went to ask if our party could get some water and speak with our server. I was laughed at and told “do you want to be the server”. We should have walked out immediately. This was just the beginning. KC sushi is the reason many cities establish better business bureau’s because they need to be reported as a bad unjust sad excuse for a business.
KC Sushi is my absolute favorite! The spicy crab salad is addicting once you try it you will crave it! We live about 20 minutes away from this restaurant and pass many other Sushi bars on the way, but still choose to go to this location once a week. Bui and family are very nice and attentive. The sushi is very fresh and if you have any question or like something in particular just tell them and they will help you out in your decisions.
The sushi is EXCELLENT and REASONABLY PRICED ($6.50-$15 range, with most under $10). The Lee's Summit Roll is a house special and you must try it! The staff was friendly also. My friend was trying sushi for the first time and the waiter did recommend a roll for him. He also explained about the all-you-can eat for $24.99/person from 11-2 Sundays.
The people who wrote horrible reviews must have been having a really bad day. Don't believe them, this place is great!
My husband and I generally go to a nearby competitor, but visited KC Sushi for the first time today, having been prompted by many of our friends to do so.
I felt that we were slightly hurried to order when we first sat down and the server didn't seem inclined to explain to us about the house specialties or the all-you-can-eat deal. Once we did order, it took a very long time for our order to come, and we were visited minimally by the waitstaff - perhaps once. When our sushi did come, it was good but not phenomenal.
My overall experience with KC Sushi is that the service was pitiful and the food just alright. I think that we will continue to go to their competitor in the future.
KC Sushi is definitely one of the best! I've had sushi across the world and I have to say...I love Ichi roll, Yummy roll (for those of you who like cooked fish) and pepperfin and raddish roll (for those of you who enjoy fresh fish). They are a small restaurant with lots of energy and love to spare. All the customers seem to have a relationship with the owners, and the owners actually remember most of their names! The price is VERY reasonable and they are willing to do whatever they can to make sure your visit is an extraordinary experience. And don't forget the all you can eat sushi on sundays for $29.99! And tell them a Texan sent ya! Yes, I live in Texas and everytime I visit the first place I go to is KC Sushi!
I give this place ZERO stars. Service was sad...sad...sad. Waited 30+ minutes at the table to be served. Tempura was tough and greasey, and never did receive our salads. Food was delivered sporatically. Some folks didn't receive their food until after some had finished. Staff seemed totally oblivious to the customers. I did sample of few of the rolls, which did have good flavor. If I had not been with a group, I would have left in a heartbeat! I couldn't wait to get out of there and I will NEVER be back.
For the absolute freshest and best sushi in town you'll need to travel north. I would consider myself a regular to this place. The people who work there are friendly and a lot of fun. First time there the fish was freshest I have had in Kansas City. I have been to several. The rainbow roll and the spicy crab salad are a must. The Second time I walked through the door they remembered my name and greeted me with a smile. I have been there almost every week from then on. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants the best sushi around for a great price along with wonderful service. If you’re looking for great sushi at a reasonable price and a lot of fun you must try KC SUSHI!
