Avoid this place! The owner is not aware of American customs such as: if you find a long, black hair woven through your sushi roll, you offer sympathy and a discount, if not a free meal. The owner of the resraurant was so rude to us. My friend is the one who had the hair in his food and the lady tried to say it was MY hair! (I have bleach blonde hair that is wavy, not long, straight, black hair.) She told my friend that he just didn't like it so he didn't want to pay for it, why else would he eat more than half and just stop?! He was so grossed out that he couldn't finish it, he was really enjoying it, actually! She also bashed on the the Bonsai Bistro (her competition) right in front of us. It also took her over an hour to make our food, we were the only customers in the restaurant the entire time we were there, so it wasn't like she was busy?! She told my friend she would replace his roll, but he had to pay for the one with the hair. She said she could make a replacement in 5 minutes??!! It took her over an hour the first time? How strange? Who wants to eat in a place you find long nasty hair in your food... doesn't really put you in the mood to ask for more...
We had a fantastic meal. The fish was very fresh, the seaweed salad was authentic as was the soup, clean, not cluttered with excessive americanized fillings. The rolls were small and perfectly spiced as they are supposed to be. The service was attentive and friendly. My only complaint would be the location, this place should be downtown overlooking the lake. If you are looking for authentic Japanese food, this is the only place in Coeur d alene.
What a major disappointment! I think this is the worst Japanese food I have ever tried. The miso soup was watered down to a point of it not tasting like anything. The sushi roll was small and fell apart. The steak was a poor cut of meat, and didn't have any teriyaki flavor at all. The tempura plate had scallops, and they were fishy and mushy. The tempura shrimp were not deveined. The tempura sauce was also watered down to a point of no flavor. I think the ultimate slap in the face was the bill, because these plates were 20 bucks a plate, not worth the price at all! Don't go here, highway robbery exists.
