Family went to visit the zoo and a couple of people recommended this restaurant to us. The gumbo was yummy, but spicy! No complaints on the fried or boiled shrimp either. Hubby's frog legs were big and meaty. And, the price...$60 for six entrees. It was located only a block from Beale Street. Seemed a safe part of town.

great caual atmosphere. Xtremely casual. Gumbo like it is supposed to be. Looks like old motor oil but fantastic taste. The best. Felt like I was on the set of Dirty Dancing. Great 50's atmosphere...in a good way. Affordable too.

This place has the food and the prices you want. Ordered the grilled grouper that came with grilled squash & zuchinni and a large serving of beans and rice. It was not the New Orleans creamy red beans and rice, but a drier version that was not bad. The spicy grilled fish was great and the veggies had a unique lime flavor twisted to them. My Buddy got a 1/2 dozen raw oysters and the grilled red snapper and he claimed it too was good (it sure looked good). Very casual atmosphere. I recommend. Ye-ea-ah. Oh and it was a $10.00 meal.
