Well I am glad I did not have the same experience as Amy! I find Buon Amici to be one of the only Italian restaurants in Williamsburg to cater to the gourmet pallet...most just throw throw the same old Italian standards at you (although some are quite good at this, don't get me wrong), but Buon Amici will give you an actual seasonally prepared or artfully executed dish with very creative or truly authentic rustic Italian influences. It is also one of the only Williamsburg fine dining establishments with a dedicated outside dining area, which is nice.
I encourage anyone to try Buon Amici's that wants to step away from the standard Italian fare and enjoy well executed food as well...hopefully the service item was a glitch, we have never had problems...
I recently had the pleasure of having a late lunch at Buon Amici. My entire family is from New York, and I had yet to find actual New York quality pizza anywhere in Virginia in 20 years. That was until I ate at Buon Amici. Buon Amici has the best pizza I've ever had outside of New York City. It's brick oven baked with the classic crusty bottom that snaps when you bite into it. I also had their gnocchi which was delicious. It was light, fluffy and came served with a vibrant pomodoro sauce.
If you are looking for outstanding pizza and authentic Italian cuisine go to Buon Amici.
