The Rock Inn, Estes Park

Food was very good in this dive (sports on the TVs, fake log walls, guys in camo, etc). Loved the soup (2 bucks?), the pasta dishes were quite good, all the dressings for the salads were homemade and yummy. Bottles of wine for 10 bucks, a dozen microbrews at the bar (and I approve the selection). My order of wings was on the cool side and looked like the sauce had been dumped on top, and don't go for the desserts - they're quite ordinary. Music two nights a week. Summer, any restaurant in Estes can be full, fall to spring is the time to go.

My family ate at the Rock Inn in December of 08 and found it to be terrible. While we were eating we felt something under the table and it turned out to be the owners German Sheppard. Soon there were two other dogs walking around in the restaurant. Then the German Sheppard had its feet on the bar from behind it. The food was not very good as we could not tell what the appetizers were. The health inspector would have shut this place down if he had been here when we were. I would not recommend this to anyone.

Five Stars is not enough for this fantastic restaurant. My wife & I travel to attend the Folks Fest in nearby Lyons every summer and we always make time to have dinner at the Rock Inn. The Devil's on Horseback appetizer- garlic stuffed, bacon wrapped dates- is one of the best appetizers that we have ever had anywhere. The steaks are wonderful as well. The staff is great as well- they make you feel like a member of their extended family. The last time we were there they had a fantastic bluegrass band as well. If you enjoy bluegrass, you may want to check the schedule and plan to visit when a band is playing..if not just go for the meal- you will not be disappointed.
