Kelleys Country Cookin
After retiring in August, 1983 with 26 years of service to the Houston Police Department, we started Kelley's Country Cookin. Our first location was inside Lang's Pharmacy at 8015 Park Place at the Gulf Freeway. We began with 9 devoted employees and a seating capacity of 50. Today, the entire Kelley family takes pride in ownership and we now have six locations, employ over 500 and have a combined seating capacity of approximately 1400. We could not have achieved this level of success without our loyal customers who continue to patronize us and make Kelley's a regular part of their lives. So from our family to yours, thank you for your support and be assured that we will always abide by our family motto for continued success
I've been to the Park Place location for many years and loved it. On this particular day, I decided to stop at the League City location on my way back from Galveston. I wanted to take a friend of mine there for the first time and was evn bragging about how good Kelly's was. I was shocked when I entered at this location. The place was filthy, I had to ask the lady to clean the table, she didn't even speak English. This should have been my clue to just walk out, but I didn't. We waited for a long time (the place was not even half full). FINALLY, a waitress came over, no smile, no greeting, absolutely blank. She took the wrong order. I had to send it back, wait some more and then the food came and had no taste whatsoever. I sent it back the second time and told her take it off the tab and I would pay for the one side of rice & gravy that I ate. The Manager came over and refused to take it off the tab. Not wanting to make a scene, we ended up paying for a whole meal that I DID NOT eat. I mean--- who does that? Who charges for food that a customer does not eat? I have never heard of something like that. It was the most horrible and embarrassing experience considering that I took my friend there for the first time. This is how he will remember Kelly's and I will continue to tell everyone I know about this untill I get my money back. It's the principle of it.
we went to Kelly's in Stafford, Texas and our food was cold, I ordered the Chicken fried Chicken and did not eat it because it was cold. I ask the server if it was cooked as we waited and was told yes. I don't understad why it was cold if the just cooked it. We have bee there a lot of times but will not go back. Our last trip the meat loaf was cold and they did warm it up for us. No more Kelly's for us.
This was my frst time to a Kelly's and it wasn't bad,we ordered chicken fried steak. I seen that and thought wow,how am I going to eat all of it.It was huge but, they must have done skin graphs on the cow to get what little meat there was.It was all crust. If we ever go back, next time I will get the fried chicken breast,I tasted it and was very good.
