Good food, but the owner and server act as if having customers is a bother to them. Waitress was on the phone with someone who was trying to make a reservation for a party of six, and essentially said everything she could to discourage them. Bathroom has no towels, and the piece of the broken toilet seat is sitting on top of the tank. Never say never, but probably won't go back. On a positive note, the sushi roll we ordered was wrapped in warm rice, which was INCREDIBLE. I've eaten a lot of sushi/ sashimi, and never had any with warm rice like this. Good stuff. Basic California roll. But again, all of that was outweighed by the attitudes of the waitress and owner.
My friend worked here a awhile ago during the summer and told me they get paid under the table...isn't that illegal? and he's a foreigner and he's servers are American, why pay them under the table? not only can he get in trouble by IRS and immigration but he's getting he's employee's in trouble as well. Is this a professional business?
Not worth working there!
Good sushi though not the best in town or the country like the owner so highly believes. Music is too loud i felt like we had to yell our order, and our table lighting was dark we needed a flash light to read the menu. I don't understand why they have a bar, it never is fully stocked my girlfriend had to keep changing her drink order because they didn't have vodka, then didn't have orange juice, then no cherry vodka and note she was ordering from the martini list they have on their menu. Our poor server really tried they best but the restaurant just seems to not stock a lot of things. I've never seen that before in a restaurant, they didn't even have diet coke, just coke and sprite zero and they were out of all the three beer selections but Guinness, same goes for the wine, they were out of the selections we ordered. Owner was a little rude, he kept interrupting our conversation and kept talking while we were trying to eat our meals, it's nice of him to want to converse with customers but it was too much. The kitchen food is great, especially the tepanyaki and hot stone. They seem to always have one server, so I'd recommend going when it's slow else you'll hardly see your server.
I visited recently for the all you can eat sushi for $13.95. That is not really true. The only all you can eat items are the maki rolls which are limited in variety. There is sushi add-on for $0.99/piece. I found the rolls to be mostly rice. I extracted a piece of fish from my roll and it was a sliver. I then tasted that piece of fish. It was not good at all. It was warm and the texture was terrible. It was basically mush. I prefer the fish in my rolls to have at list a bit of body. The ambiance is headed in the right direction, but after a few years of being open, the furniture and floor tiles are showing wear. I loved the jazz music playing over the audio system, but it was unfortunately blended with the sound from the widescreen tv at the bar. There was no bar tender at the bar. There was no one sitting at the bar. Yet ESPN was competing with the jazz music. The staff was friendly, but seemed taxed to be able to serve all the patrons.
I took my Fiance to Bistro Ginza last weekend, at a friends advice, and we had the best experience of our entire lives. The serving staff helped us choose a wonderful variety of sushi and cooked japanese cuisine from the kitchen. We also had two great martini's. The best part is that the waiter signed us up for their free sushi club, and email list which entitles patrons to up to 50% off all of their sushi. I can't believe that more people don't know how great of a deal you can get at this place. Amazing food, and even more amazing prices. My experience with their friendly staff was the kind of dining experience that you always hope to have but never get. This is our new favorite place!!! and its romantic!
The dishes were simple, well presented, and delicious.
Service is excellent.
My initial visit was to meet a friend for dinner. I could not find this place. They need better signs or lighting on the outside.
The menu is pretty light and not much there for someone who does not like sushi. But if you consider yourself well versed in Sushi.. you'll love this place. It's a MUST visit!!
I just moved to Cincinnati and have been trying to find a good sushi place. I think I've finally found it! The waitresses and sushi chef provided great service. One of the waitresses thought the sushi was taking too long and offered us a free salad. I was surprised because I didn't think the wait was long at all. The service was fast and friendly. This sushi is the best I've found in Cincinnati so far. I was especially impressed by the size of the sushi rolls. Other places have sushi that look tiny compared to Bistro Ginza's sushi. They also looked great and tasted delicious. We're hooked. We will definitely eat there again!
