Island Outpost, Dunedin

I attempted to dine at this establishment at 1:42 p.m. this afternoon, and nobody was available to seat, so I sat myself at the closest table near their entrance on the left side. Nobody approached me to offer me water or to take my order, so I got up, walked around the bar looking for someone and then left. This place is either hit or miss, w/o apparently anything in-between. Either you get service, or you don't. Today there was zero service, and several people behind me waited and waited and weren't seated. While I was there I noticed that several tables were looking around trying to get service, but were having difficulties, too, so I wasn't the only one.

Just had dinner there for the first time. It was great, fantastic food, the waitress was exceptional and the music and ambiance great. Will definitely return.

my food was okay. my boyfriend had to send his mahi back because it was over-cooked and then the fries werent done on the remake! service was very slow. took 10 mins just to get a drink order. not too impressed!

We have been to this restaurant twice since the new owners took over. I sure hope they survive this economy because the food is great and I like the live music. It's nice to have a new outdoor seating restaurant in the area. Only drawback is beer and wine only.

The Chesseburger was what Jimmy sings about. Cooked to perfection and so large you will have trouble finishing it. The Sweet Corn Nuggets are beyond description!!! So is the smoked fish spread. We live close by and IO is going to be a regular with us.

The IO is awesome......been going a few times a month since they opened and have yet to find ANYTHING to complain about. I know the owners personally and like the other poster can confirm that the IO only uses fresh ingredients...NOTHING IS FROZEN. You can't even compare the Sand Bar to the IO.....not even in the same league unless you like greasy frozen grub while sitting down wind from the big green smelly dumpster. Beer, ribs, pulled pork, sandwiches, fish and chips, home made potato chips, bbq baked beans......all top notch.....oh and the ice cream is great and my shakes have never had chunks!

I lived in NC for several years and was thrilled to find NC BBQ on a menu in Florida. It was pulled rather than chopped which I'm not used to, but the sauce tasted authentic and I enjoyed it thoroughly. The homemade potatoe chips were pretty good too. Prices were reasonable. Glad I stopped in.

It's not just the BBQ that's great. The clam strip basket, three rooker sandwich, hot ham and cheese sandwich and rueben sandwich are all great. Fresh and well prepared. Their homemade potato chips are also very good. Great people also run and operate the place.

Great food, pleasant atmosphere, good beer selection, excellent service! Try the brisket or the pulled pork, you'll love it.

I go there at least 1 or 2 times a week. Mainly for the BBQ. I personally think that it is the best in the area and it is always fresh. I like the laid back atmosphere, and it great to come off the beach and grab a bite to eat without going home to change first. I have to agree with native that SK must be crazy to choose the Sandbar over the IO. As many time that I have been there I never have been dissatisfied. Oh and SK... God melted your icecream, not Island Outpost.
