we stopped here after driving 500 miles traveling back to Ohio, going home from vacation...our waitress seemed to be 'bothered' to have to wait on us...my husband got the all you can eat ($12) ribs and had to wait forever to get his second helping...and couldn't even stomach the seconds...they were just nasty! and not to mention as my husband was eating his beans from the bean bar, the waitress came over and took his spoon out of the bowl and took the bowl!!! he wasn't even finished and she didn't even ask! I told the lady up front that the food was just okay and what had happened with the beans...nothing was offered to compensate for anything...we had alot of left over food that was not edible and horrible service...we couldnt help but notice how many other tables had large amounts of food left on them and ppl just left...we will never stop here again and will not recommend to family who travels thru here either! waste of $47!!!!!!!!
We ate at the Fruit Jar while attending a dog show in Cartersville. The bean bar and cornbread were really good ,and the fried chicken and catfish were absolutely delicious. The slaw, fries, sweet tea, onion rings were to die for-----we loved this place and so did our friends. We plan to return to Cartersville again this fall.We are already looking forward to returning to this restaurant.I am not from Cartersville.I know no one in Cartersville.I visit from out of state to compete in a dog show,so I consider myself unbiased in my review.
ran across this place back in 2008 my wife and i are from birmingham al .we eat at the fruit jar every chance we have.we have had anything that wasnt wonderful the service is great prices are fair and some of the niecst people i have met i recomend the cafe every chance i get it is great
I've been to this restaurant a number of times with my family. Not sure what all the crap is about bad atmosphere because I found it friendlier than almost every place I've been, including the fast food ones that are aimed at children. Food is great, although I have had bad experiences with the home fried potatoes, always cold and greasy. If you like onion rings, however, they have the best. I like almost everything they have and the things I don't like is just personal preferences. The service is superior to most other places. Definitely recommend the place.
Last month, I visited the Fruit Jar Cafe with a group of 15 people from our church. As we walked in the door, the owner approached to welcome us and shake our hands. He really made us feel welcome. I don't understand the comments regarding high prices since we had just the opposite experience. The prices were reasonable, the drinks were free (really!!) and the portions were huge. The food was also reasonable good. While we ate, the owner came over to ensure that everything was OK and as we left he thanked us for our business. We will definitely return again.
We ate there twice in one week and were extremely pleased both times. Fantastic Chicken Fried Steak and wonderful fried catfish ! The cornbread and beans are a wonderful start to the meal. Very generous portions and great service make the whole experience complete.
