I'm from a local Inidian Rez in Centrol Oregon and I recently watched a TV program on TLC or Food and they did a search and short documentary for some of the best food places IN THE WORLD. One of a couple of places they recommended in the U.S.?! Right from our very own Portland, Oregon!! The Blue Plate off of 3rd & Washington. It looked small, but their food made the host of that show absolutely drivle over what he was tasting!! Their food and beverage choices look unique to their own shop and cooks and the host said the food and drinks were more than worth the money. Then he commented the prices were about average to just above average than a chain like shari's, which are very affordable. Next time I'm in Portland, I'm going out of my way to check out the Blue Plate!! this rating is in anticipation of what i saw on tv by a host searching out unique and exceptional places to eat on our planet. i want to try the baked mac & cheeze or the burger i saw on TV.
I saw this Lil' place on the triple D, Guy went out of his way to check this place out. the Blue Plate has no real kitchen just a few table top hot plates. from what I seen the owner prepares with the little he had, I will make to trek from central Oregon (Bend) to His Lil' place downtown. I believe the baked Mac n Cheese is for me. I send a follow up review after my visit.
Oh wow, you've gotta visit this place! If you like old-fashioned shakes, malts, and sodas, paired with a small American lunch menu, this is the place for you. The shakes are delicious, and every soda but the cola is a house-made concotion. Go traditional, but I'd try some of the wilder ideas; like the Purple Haze soda made with hibiscus, allspice and star anise, or the Chai Bomb shake. You can make a shake out of just about any soda flavor, too. The food is great, too. Take a girl with a sweet tooth out on a lunch date here, seduce her with sweets.
