We being new again to the area saw this Thai restaurant and decided sinve thai is our absolute faborite we would give it a try. We ordered three of the most popular thai food dishes. Chicken Satay, panang, and pad thai. I habe eaten these dishes may times. The food here was just horrjbke and when went back tk ask for a refund they calles the cops aftwr yelling at me. Really?
Worst Thai food I’ve ever eaten. I’ve been there three times with a lag of about six months between each time … I kept hoping it would improve.
The first time was the grand opening and it was hectic but the food was okay. My husband and I ordered soup and curries … a red and a green. Everything we ate was cooked … we later learned that’s why it was okay.
The second time we went with another couple and the waitress brought the entrees before the appetizers and kept piling so many things on the table we didn’t have room to eat. The tempura vegetables were okay, but the dumplings were gummy and grisly. The soup was okay except for the dried galangal root that they leave in which resembles the texture of a wood chip and is not fun to bite into. The curries were once again acceptable. We finally got our second beer at the end of the meal. The waitresses never come back once you get all of your food.
Not much ambiance … it’s sort of like a cafeteria inside … there are lots of beautiful Thai statues and such but it’s still sterile feeling.
The third time we order larbs (Thai (yum) salads) pork and chicken, which was basically boiled meat thrown on top of lettuce without any seasoning when I finally flagged down the waitress I asked for fish sauce and lime slices and she told me to use the condiments, specifically the bird peppers because they have fish sauce in them, I had to demand that she bring me the fish sauce and lime juice. She told me they do not have fresh limes and use concentrated juice. The only ingredients in the dish from the menu listing was the lettuce and meat.
The pork had an awful aftertaste like it was getting ready to spoil, and the only ‘fresh’ vegetables or herbs were tons of red onion and scallions. It has been my experience that Thai salads are generally cold … this was lettuce with hot boiled pork thrown on top of it … gross to eat and gross to look at.
I told the waitress it was horrible and she snottily told me it was exactly like it was supposed to be.
The owner’s explanation was that they dumb down their food for the Americans … they don’t have cilantro because Americans hate it … nothing is seasoned because it’s too hot for Americans and they always have limes but they juice them all so they couldn’t bring me a slice (sure). They never have summer rolls or papaya salad … the owner says the summer rolls just dry out and the green papaya is too far of a drive to get. He insisted I come back BUT call ahead and say that I want the Thai version AND make sure he’s there to get it right. I don’t think so … three strikes …and you’re out. At least the owner took both of our entrees off the bill. The best thing I had for dinner that night was the hot tea … once I finally got the waitress to bring me the cream.
If you want fresh Thai food, with fresh ingredients, go to Thai Cuisine.
Went to this restaurant and the service was terrible, the food was not very good as I felt it was nothing more than white rice with veggies and meat something I could have made at home. The shrimp were a decent size for some of us that had it. At the end with only water as our drinks, no appetizers and 90 bucks later with the tip for three adults and three kids I felt that we could have ate like kings at anywhere else for that price. My dish was nothing more than home made ramen noodles with some shrimp. Dissappointed.
We love this restaurant! We have enjoyed everything we have eaten in the Tai Room. The entire experience was relaxing and the servers were excellent at their job. This is our favorite restaurant! We will definitely keep going back!
