Lucas Wharf Restaurant & Bar
had the calamari sandwich, which was pretty good. However, had the grilled the bun with garlic butter the sandwich would have been excellent. My friend had the squid appetizer and loved it. A little speny but good. Actually, I think I d slice the bread you serve with the meal and grill it. leaving the squid steak whole instead of slicing it in half and stacking it on the bun. It would be easier to eat and look like more food as well

As a former restaurant owner, I try to give breaks where I can to other places that might have a bad night. However, Lucas Wharf tested my compassion. Went there on a recommendation from a colleague who had good things to say about it. The place seemed cozy and inviting. The view of the bay from the dining room was spectacular and the beer was cold. That was about as good as it got. Our appetizers were tasteless and my chowder was cold. The shellfish was gut wrenchingly bad that came with our entrees. My fish fry combo had overcooked shrimp and scallops that tasted like they were going bad. My side of mixed vegetables was steamed beyond recognition. Two other entrees of shellfish were brought out with plenty of unopened crustaceans, a sure sign of bad shellfish. Normally, the kitchen would check to remove as many of these as possible. The place was not too busy so there was no excuse not to. All four entrees we ordered were horrible. Additionally, the waiter looked like he had a groovy case of pink eye, really appealing when you’re trying to enjoy a meal. Around 24 hours later, I started to get sick as well as my daughter. I couldn’t put two and two together until I was told that my daughter had eaten a scallop off my plate when I went to the bathroom. She spent the next day throwing up. I was a little better but not by much. I tried to get the owner on the phone for a week and a half with no luck. Didn’t want to make a big deal about it. Just found out today that the owner, Peggy Lucas, did receive my complaint letter and decided that the best remedy was to go on vacation and be unavailable for the next two weeks: a sure fire way to show one care’s after most likely getting someone ill from food borne illness. Ladies and gents, there aren’t many dining choices in Bodega Bay, by design. It’s a beautiful place and I recommend that you visit there. However, I would rather order in at my hotel before ever stepping into Lucas Wharf. The only way I can see that they stay in business is because of a captive tourist audience. The place is simply awful and with their apparent lack of concern, you have a better than odds on shot at ruining your vacation unless you plan to spend it face down in the toilet.

My husband and I live in Petaluma and enjoy going to Bodega Bay when we can. We like the food at Lucas Wharf and have considered the other restaurants (and tried them too) but the food and service are the best for the price. I especially like the deep fried & sauted calamari or the coconut prawns. I have always received good service and a table over looking the water. It is a nice family owned business in this day of corporate cookie cutter food places. We try to go during the week when it is less crowded than the weekends. You know that a place is good, when it still has a jammed parking lot in these tough economic times.

We have been going here for years. Those that are whining have NO idea what they are talking about. Please go get a fish sandwich at McDonald's and enjoy that. Perhaps you are shills for other restaurants.

Went there last Friday, about one of the worst meals I can remember in a long time. Oysters were dry and not fresh. The halibut was way over cooked to the point of disgusting. All four orders were wrong. Even down to the stale bread made this a terrible experience. Would never go back.

While vacationing in Bodega Bay, we dined at Lucas and had a WONDERFUL experience! The people were friendly and welcoming. The food was the BEST... fresh/home-made clam chowder, seafood stew was comforting/delicious, seafood platter...crunchy & fresh, endless basket of warm/soft bread. They catered to my allergies w/out any issue. We wanted to purchase gift cards for our friends; however, the restaurant is too remote/too far to travel just for dinner. ...but, we'll be back! It was a GREAT start to our R&R at Bodega Bay!

This is by far the best seafood place in Sonoma County. We drive from Santa Rosa to Lucas Wharf and worth the drive for the food, the cocktails, the view, and the service. This is a must go place for any visitor. The proof of the pudding is when you drive out there in the middle of the day, in the middle of the week, in the middle of winter, and the parking lot is almost full. That says it all. GREAT FOOD!!! Great Fish and Chips, too.
