Samba Brazilian Steakhouse
Churrascaria (shoo-ras-ka-ria) is a Brazilian barbeque style that was created 400 years ago in Rio Grande Do Sul region of Brazil (southern Brazil) by Gauchos(cowboys). Cooked over a fiery charcoal grill, the various succulent meats are placed on skewers, to be carved and served directly from fire to your plate to satisfy your carnivorous desire.
Very disappointed. The only thing I have to say is I am glad that (Rio Churrascaria) opened up in Clovis. I thought that Rio was 100% better. I grew up in Brazil and thought Sambas was terrible. The meat was cold, the Picanha (which they call brazilian steak) had been frozen before cooked, making the taste very bad, not like when you eat a fresh cooked piece of Picanha. The meat was not barbequed like it should have been, it was very dry, and had no flavor. I think that the chef they have does not know how to cook. Even the serves do not know how to cut the meat right. An authentic brazilian steak house will cut thin pieces of hot, medium rare meat, or well done, whatever you want, but it will be soft and taste very good, but SAMBAs was exactly the opposite of this. The salad bar was bad too, potato salad seemed like they had not even cooked the potatoes right. I asked for Polenta, which is also a popular dish in Brazil, and they said sure, but never brought it. I asked 3 more times, until finally the so long awaited polenta arrived. Even at the end, when they thought I was done, i asked for some more ALcatra (top sirloin), and they never brought it. OVerall I thought that the service was terrible, the waiters do not know what they are doing and the food taste terrible. IF YOU WANT A BETTER BRAZILIAN MEAL, GO EAT AT RIO CHURRASCARIA IN CLOVIS. It is way better. I hope the manager (Flavio) reads this. And like someone else mentioned, if you go there, go with low expectations and maybe it is not as bad, because i have never been so disapointed in my whole entire life at a restaurant. Best steak I have ever had in my LIFE and I have travelled and dined in five countries, four of which are European. I think the food is great, the service excellent, and the atmosphere is wonderful! Worth a second, third, and fourth try!
Been here many times, always have a great time. The food is awesome, a meat lovers delight. The baked pineapple at the end is incredible. Ya just gotta give this place a try for a different dining experience. Try www.restaurant.com for a $25 dollar gift certificate that's cheap! Would recommend this to anyone.
The staff was annoying when they kept asking us if we wanted more food. Of course we want more food, our little shaker is on green, therefore it means bring out the food. The staff made us felt like they were doing us a favor by us having to ask them to bring us more meat and drinks. This was definitely not what I had expected since I have been to other Churrascaria Brazilian Steakhouse. The enviroment was nice, but that's about it. If you go, go with low expectations, that way you will not get dissapointed. One last thing, the family style food was CHEAP. The menu sounded like it was this feast, but in the end it's just food from a box.
