I am a local and Citrus is mine and my husband s favorite breakfast place. French toast with real French toast, fluffy scrambled eggs, pumpkin pancakes to die for, amazing sausage links (and I dont even like sausage), a rather large portion of the fresh fruit granola with yogurt, and the mimosas and Bloody Marys are sooo wonderfully made, as well as great cup of coffee. Eat here, ignore the negative reviews, the staff is friendly and has been serving there from day one because they like their job that much. The wait is only 15-20 mins. on the weekends. It is really worth it - and you can get a drink while you wait. At Citrus, the owners always go over and beyond and take ordinary food to the next level without breaking the bank. Also, their daily specials are always amazing and worth a try.
Worst experience EVER.The server told us she was new and wasnt sure if we could get the french toast on regular bread. When we got our order it was all messed up.We understood she was new and just sent back the items for the ones we ordered. Then my omlette was missing the cheese.Another server took it back and then brought it back and there was a glob of cheese and she said it was in there. No way I could miss that much cheese! We were sitting right next to the kitchen and the manager went up to the cooks ande asked if everything was straightened out with table 4 said it was one thing after another with us and we were rediculous!Right in front of us.Then said that he doesnt deal with people like us!No apology from the server or anyone! Will never go back there worst customer service Ever!
Waiting in line at Citrus this A M and saw a male employee ( manager) screaming at older woman on the patio. OMG!!! Apparently, she wanted to move some tables together for what looked like a baby shower. She was in tears and we turned around and left. Have no idea what the food was like and will certainly never find out. Guess you had better call ahead and find out what kind of mood they are in that day before you try to eat there. Was disappointed because had heard from some Navy friend that these were good people. Can't wait to pass my experience onto them.
Was this just a bad day for him? Not going to chance it.
Go hungry,go fast food,go anywhere but here! Long wait, rude staff and the management was worse.Might have been o.k.if the food was good but the salad was small and bland and my grandchild took two bites of her rubbery french toast and pushed it away.Had heard pos.things re: community support by this place and I hope they keep that up because I can think of nothing else pleasent to say about Citrus.Oh valet parking 20:00. We moved to VA BCH about a year ago and Citrus is the best local restaurant for breakfast. There are other breakfast/lunch only restaurants around but Citrus exceeds them by far for both food quality and service. Pricing is about the same. I love the food and the people. I haven't tried lunch food yet but the breakfast is great. The only thing I don't like is the pancakes but everyone else I go with seems to love them so it's probably me. It costs about the same as IHOP or other casual eateries unless you add alcohol. The Mimosa's are to die for and the alcohol, while it ups the bill a little, is not by any means overpriced. The alcohol is much cheaper than a bar or other casual restaurant. I would recommend this spot to everyone who comes to town. You can get a nice meal with drink plus tax and tip starting at around $10.00 per person. Not bad for this area!!!
Citrus is the best!! The Bloody Mary's are so good we order 4 at a time. Never been let down by the food, drinks, or atmosphere......friendly and a great way to start any day of the week, although we prefer the weekend for the drinks.
