few customers, but service (both for initial order and to refill drinks or to bring cocktail sauce & tartar sauce, which should have come with the meal) was really slow, food was cold when served, staff seemed put out having to take our order, food wasn't very tasty.
My husband and I ate there tonight for the very first time.
We have kept a boat a Kemah for over five years, but
this is the first time we have ever stopped here. IT IS
WONDERFUL! We have the usual personalities of
cranky old people, so when we give this place rave reviews
you know it deserves RAVES! The food here is far superior
to anything we have ever eaten at Pappaderaux's or Landry's.
We tried the soft shell crab, grilled shrimp, dirty rice,
broiled snapper, and etouffe'. The soft shell crab was so
fresh it tasted as if it had just crawled out of the water onto
the beach. In fact everything tasted like it was very freshly
caught. It was prepared to perfection. The etoufee' is to
die for. The shrimp were very large, grilled to perfection
(not overdone like some), and served on the most delicious
dirty rice I have ever tasted anywhere. We couldn't believe
how cheap it was either. We paid half of what we would
have spent for a comparable meal at any of the above
mentioned restaurants. We will go back every chance
we get. The service was very good, too, and it was a
The owner needs to give his workers some lessons in how to treat the customers. They are rude from the minute you get there until the time you walk out the door. With only 2 or 3 other customers in the building, you would expect a little better treatment. I guess that explains all the empty tables. I would give this place a negative star if it were possible. We will not be going back. There are too many other places to eat where the staff actually know that the customers are what pays their salaries.
this place has the worst service i have ever seen. I love the food so we have went here at least once a week and try to just bear it but tonight the waitress refused to tak anymore tables and we were stuck in the corner, then the bus lady who doesnt know english (and we dont know spanish) waited on us. Our food was good as usual, i asked to speak to a manager and i was told he was busy...so when we went to pay the lady asked us how things were and i told here about our lousy service she ignored me and told me my total.......so now i go here only during the day, the service is great and acording to the cashier the night shift gets alot of complaints!!!apperantly not to many because the same B@#ch's still work there.
I now understand why there is never a wait at your LaPorte restaurant.
horrible, horrible, horrible. starting with the hostess (no smile or warm greeting). we were given silverare in a paper holder. the napkins were in a napkin holder on the table and were very thin and flimsy. when the waitress served us the CATFISH she asked us if we wanted tartar sauce or anything (duh). we waited at least 5 minutes for her to bring it to us. when she did i asked why the tartar sauce was not automatically served with seafood. she said she did not know that she had not been working there that long (by the way, it would be more pleasing to have the sauce served in little cups rather than in a squeeze bottle that looked like it had been sitting around for quite a while). the catfish was very fishy and i don't think it was cooked all the way through. i did not eat much of it. she did not offer to let us talk to the manager or in any way try to make us feel that it was important how we feel. on the way out the cashier(again without a smile)asked if everything was good. when we said no she told us what we owned and ignored our comment. we have tried this place twice before and were not happy at all but decided to give the place one more try (i was hungry for catfish and didn't want to drive all the way to sudie's). we live in LaPorte and could have been regulars but after three tries we are done.
