Really Cappy s.... Last time I checked you were a locally owned family pizza joint. You know what kids like.... Pizza. So to post signs saying no kids allowed on the patio really makes it hard to patronage your establishment. You know what else kids like is to be outside. The patio would be the ideal place to allow the children. You also have video games, board games, and a train that runs around the perimeter of the restaurant all of which attract children. You know what comes with children, paying parents. If I have learned anything about the restaurant industry after 14 years of being in it, if you keep the children happy and occupied, the parents will give you their wallet. Your pizza is subpar at best but it is very convenient, based on location, not convenient time wise. My recommendation would be to try New World Brewery or Demi’s Market. They have WAY better pizza. Not only can you bring your children but you can bring your pets as well.
Save the time and money and get a Bolbli crust and throw some tomato sauce on it because that's what you'll get at this joint. OR if you want to wait an hour to get seated then another 45 minutes after you are seated to eat then pay $20 for Bolbli crust with canned tomato sauce thrown on it. Also the one I went to on Bay to Bay accepts cash only. Get with the times you cheap @sses. Most people use debit cards now. DUH!
Having previously dined at this restaurant, we were eager to repeat a great experience. While verifying that they closed at 9 pm (on a Wednesday) we set out from our home 5 minutes away. Imagine our surprise, walking in at 8:39 to find out that the kitchen was closed. Uh, hello?? If your kitchen indeed does close at 8:30, then tell people you close at 8:30. By having a sign on your door that says you are open until 9, then serve people and stop seating at 9. Needless to say, this experience left a very bad taste in our mouths and we will consider finding another good pizza place near our home.
P.S. Taco Bus filed the bill and was damned good.
Not sure what Anonymous is referring to about wait staff....been there several times and both the waitresses and food are outstanding....friendly and delicious respectively. Cappy's is a local haunt for us but still one of the top 3 pizzas in Tampa...and this from an NYC John's Pizza gal. Check it out...you will not be disappointed. We like a bacon and basil thin crust.
Great food and great atmosphere. However, the staff does seem a bit stuck up and rude. Often times it seems like they are annoyed that they have to wait on you. Unfortunately, that is the definition of waiter/waitress. A more pleasant wait staff would make this the perfect neighborhood restaurant.
I live right around the corner from this place, but I would drive miles to eat here. The original decorations and atmosphere take you back to the decades of your childhood but the pizza is so much better.
Take a deep breathe and watch the train whirl around the ceiling. This is a happy place. The shadowbox tables have old toys in them (like Star Wars action figures), twinkling music overhead, and authentic old vinyl albums as menu covers. There are even vintage video games like Pac Man and Galaga.
Most importantly, the prime ingredients on the pizza are freshly cut and not overcooked. The veggie pizza is weller than swell, very refreshing.....and the cheese tossed Greek salad with potato salad...yum.....get a table by a south window for a view of the garden.
I can't agree with the negative review of the staff. This must be a misunderstanding because I have been to Cappy's many times and I have never had a problem. They've always been nice and punctual although a little hurried. By the way, their prices are on the cheap side. : ) Bonus.
Watch out, there is a waiting list to get in by 7pm on weekend nights.
We have been a few times and it is quickly becoming a favorite. The pizza is wonderful, breadsticks are great and there are a lot of options for toppings. They have a wonderful beer selection, which is always important in a pizza joint. We have taken the kids there, and they loved it too. The outdoor seating is wonderful!
Was recommended to this place by friends & neighbors,I placed a call to order some food & was asking what ingredients they had and was told to hurry up and then as i was attempying to tell him of my decision i was rudely hung up on!When I called back to speak to a mngr.! the phone was answered by the same person and after explaining what happened he tried to say he said hello 3 times and no one answered back.Funny thing though i had phone on speaker and both me and my girlfriend didnt hear him say that besides we had already been engaged in an active conversation prior to this,he had the same attitude and rudeness both times!after reading other reviews there seems to be a pattern of poor customer service and rude staff and they were all right, they might make good food but we'll never lnow as i dont need the attitude or rudeness that comes with it!Save yourself & your family by not subjecting them to this kind of Garbage! As a neighborhood resident i actualy supported their recent parking waivers,Boy what was i thinking?
