Hapuna Beach Park
This white sand beach is the stuff of movies, photo shoots and imagination. They stretch as far as the eye can see. The sand is sugar-fine, warm and clean. The waves are deep blue in the distance, foamy when they hit the shore. Among the Big Island's white sand spots, this one stands out and is regularly ranked among the top beaches in the world. The half-mile strip also has great facilities like a paved walkway leading from the parking lot, which is a rarity in Hawaii!
Hapuna Beach is very beautiful and fun. Except I almost got killed boogie boarding. Not REALLY killed... just tossed around pretty good and I thought I was going to die. But I went back in... just not as far out. My buddy left his driver's license at the boogie board rental as some sort of "deposit"... and left it there. Didn't realize until we got to the airport. SO... if you go, remember to never turn your back on the ocean, and if they want to hold your ID... make sure you get it back.
This is the best beach we've been to, including CA and FL. It is also the cleanest beach we've seen...no dead marine life, no dead seaweed, no trash or stinky stuff. It is weirdly absent of seashells. Just clean, white, sugar-fine sand with great boogie boarding. Very family friendly. No thongs, people of every age. Highly recommended!
