Laupahoehoe Train Museum
Description
The Hilo Railroad once transported sugar cane along the coast. It later operated under the name Hawaii Consolidated Railway and began to offer sightseeing tours to wealthy tourists. The product of the tiny community of Laupahoehoe, this museum keeps the Hilo Railroad heritage alive. The museum consists of a lovingly restored railroad home and, just outside, an engine and boxcar. Photos, essays and various pieces of the past are on display.
