Boyd Hill Nature Park, St Petersburg

This pleasant park offers varied wilderness habitats sandwiched between a golf course, subdivisions and St. Pete skyline. You can bike through pine flatwoods dominating acres of palmetto or stroll a boardwalk through a willow marsh bordering Lake Maggiore. Swamp woodlands are richly diverse in trees, shrubs and what's hidden under and over. Butterflies abound. And you can check out the gopher tortoise, protected by area scrubland.
