Downtown Ybor City

Description

Tampa's Ybor City, began its intriguing history when cigar makers settled here after a disastrous fire that drove the industry north from Key West. Today it is a National Historic Landmark District lined with old buildings and historic sites. Today's Ybor is a lively and popular shopping, dining and entertainment district featuring everything from museums to flamenco dancing and of course, plenty of cigars. The area really comes alive when the sun sets with a bevy of nightlife options. Do not miss the annual Halloween Parade, known as the Mama Guava Stumble or Guava-ween!

Best little town around!

Between Jan - Feb there are Gasperilla events almost like maridi gra but safer :) LOVE this place...the Czar club for the young crowd Castle for the adventurous crowd Columbia and Sundays for amazing food. I cant wait to go again!!!

Ybor city is a fun place to be

I have visit Ybor twice in the last year, and even though im 19 and cant drink I felt like it was a lot of fun. I went to gay night at the castle and The honey Pot and had a lot of fun evern though I was uncofortable at times. I also Ate at Hamburger Mary's and saw the drag show which made me laugh a lot. I will be moving here in July. I cant wait. I would suggest going here!!

Quaint Shop Called La France

Loved a shop called la France with lots of period dresses and costumes and jewelry-even dice. Things from the early 1920's up and costunes for halloween that are true period pieces. A great place to see. My husband likes El sol cigars and we loved Columbia restaurant with Flamingo dancers in the evening. Lots of interesting places to visit ant history. in the area.

We enjoyed the most in the bars, the people on the streets and every one. We were over 40 and had no fears or any desire to retire early. It was an exciting place to explore. I will come back.

didnt know what to expect

I came to florida and had high hopes for fun. Ybor city nothing opens up until 11 or so, and if you are trying to get out of YBor you cant the historic trolley to take you anywhere doesnt start until 11. Not a day excursion and not a place to say if you dont have transportation.

back after four years gone. Sorry to see that so many shops have closed and there is nothing happening any more down there. Was disappointed in some of the shops and the eating. Since this is one of the historic areas in Tampa. Will continue to tell people to check it out. Hope that it improves soon.

Ybor City

It has a feel like your in the French Quarter in New Orleans,Absolutley great atmosphere! Full of young friendly people and cheap places to eat and hang out. The architecture is awesome and there is a lot of history there you can experience in the day and at night it is transformed into the place

Overrated

I was disappointed in Ybor City based on what I heard about it. Club Parana and Tampa Bay Brewing Company were pretty cool but besides that I felt like I was in the ghetto. I would recommened Clearwater any day of the week over this

All the different kinds of food and things to do. There were many Bars and Clubs. Also many kinds of differents type of shops that you could purchase items.

Awesome place to visit!!!

I went there for the Italian Festival, and it was amazing!!! The food was outstnding, and there were performers that flew in from Italy!! It was very inexpensive to get in, around $5 or so. Lots of activities for kids as well as adults. Also be sure to visit Gameworks, a place where everyone can have a blast!!
