Bern's Steak House
Owner David Laxer carries on the tradition of excellence begun by his father Bern more than 40 years ago. Beef connoisseurs should make this restaurant first on their list of culinary stops. Known for its large selection of melt-in-your mouth aged beef and it is easy to see why it has won a wall full of awards. The "putting on the ritz" crowd have some 25 types of caviar to ponder and a wine cellar that pushed one half million bottles.
Very disappointed... Indifferent attitudes by the staff.
This place is like a tourist-bus restaurant.
Very big and noisy. Staeks are disappointing.
Much better steaks at The Capital Grille!
Bern's Steak House is way over rated!
My husband and I recently visited Bern's for the first time. We just moved to the area and the restaurant came highly recommended from several friends. We were disappointed with our experience. The decor was a bit out-dated. We were seated at a table for two against a wall where the wall-paper was dirty from splatters from food. There was no background music in our room so we could hear the table conversations from everyone around us. I'd give the food a 7 out of 10. The kitchen tour, wine cellar tour, and dessert room were the highlights. Might travel back for dessert only -- that's it. The place needs a long overdue makeover.
I was down in Tampa for some Yankee Spring Training action (I'm from Jersey). We always schedule a steak dinner on our trips. Everbody we asked suggested that Bern's is the best so we made reservations. I've been to quite a few steak places in my day and I have to tell you Bern's trumps them all!! My dinner at Bern's was the best dining experience of my life!! I have no idea why anybody would write something negative about this superior establishment. You really have to experience it yourself!!!
I will be back next year!!!!
onion soup tasted like boullion, ceasr sald was too wet and tasted of lemon, service poor, baked potota arrived and had to be returned as meal was late, steak not even warm and tasteless, onion rigs soggy, hostess at dessert podioum arguing rather then seating us almost $250 for this???? nothing has improved sine I stopped going here a couple of years back..the review was in my humble opinion slanted....King midas was a flop dryed out carrot caked and lumppy ice cream
the resturant had a very stale musty odor, and looked dirty. our waiter everet was a poor excuse for a waiter and he bragged that he had been there for 4 and 1/2 years. it might be time to go back to the kitchen.
the food was cold and tasteless, and no one seemed to care.
this place is going down hill and we will not be back.
i can not recommend a place like bern's
The first time I went to Bern's was with friends. We had a great time. It's quite a dining adventure to choose from an extensive menu, tour the kitchen and go upstairs for dessert. The steaks are excellent, the desserts are fabulous, but the side dishes are only average. It was worth the price for the whole dining experience. However, when my husband and I went a second time on our own, we were refused service even though we had a reservation because my husband was wearing pleated cotton kakhi dress shorts instead of long pants. We were not notified of the dress code when we made the reservation. This left us with such a a bad impression, we haven't been back since.
The food is superb. It is a unique experience. Service is great, too. I also like the atmosphere. OK, it's a bit gaudy, but hey, it's quiet! I hate noisy restaurants, which seems to be the trend these days.
SideBern's, on the other hand, great food, but noisy, tables too close together and seems to be a pretentious hang out for wanna-bes who wanna-be seen.
Simply a must treat ourselves restaurant! Excellent! A one of a kind experience from the moment you walk in. The service, the tour of the kitchen and incredible wine cellar, the fact they raise their own food, even the toilets are one of a kind! And then it's on to the dessert room - Fabulous! Some say it's pricy but a couple can actually have a bottle of wine and a good meal for under $100 here. Not to mention all the celebrities that never miss a chance to eat here.
