Located in the Vieux-Port, across from the market, this restaurant is known for its fish and seafood. In a dining room reminiscent of a ship's interior, the Poisson d'avril serves flavourful Mediterranean cuisine. Mussels are a favourite menu item, offered in 14 varieties, and served in a heaping bowl with fries. Opt for the all-you-can-eat if you have a huge craving or a healthy appetite. Steak, lamb, pasta and pizza are also on the menu, and provencal Bouillabaise is a well-known specialty.
My husband had the Tuna encrusted with Indian spices and I had the Char. At the waiter's sugguestion, he ordered the Tuna rare - mistake. The Tuna was grizzly and gray and would have made excellent cat food. My Char was slightly better, but the sauce that it swam in was a watered down tarter sauce. And to top it off, our meal at this tourist trap was $100. If you want an excellent meal in Quebec City try Toast. It was more expensive, but it was the best meal I ever had.
While the food is fairly good, this is a bit of a tourist trap. It serves tour buses with huge groups and sacrifices the service to the individual diners. Insufficient wait staff assures you are ignored. The mission of this restaurant is volume and not quality. Take its advertising and website with a grain of salt . . . better, consider eating at one of Quebec's many excellent restaurants....
