Cafe du Monde, Quebec City

And better than most in Paris but the very top. I can only speak for what we ordered, but the duck confit and the boudin noir--especially this, which is not an easy dish to get right--were truly outstanding. Our waiter was a consumate professional. The service is a bit brusk, but the incredible prices--for this quality of food--make up for it. Two adults and two children had wonderful meals including appetizers and wine and the bill totaled around 110 dollars. Incredible! We could not have been more surprised and pleased. FYI the ambiance is a bit strange--you enter through a parking lot--but it has the perfect spot on the water. And if it's not perfectly story book old Quebec, that's bc it's obviously a true destination restaurant, that doesn't need to trap tourists. We'll be back whenever we can. (In fact, we're going for a second meal tomorrow night before we have to go home to New York City.)

Beautiful spot in front of the st-lawrence river but poor service. If you are not with a big group (where she can expect a big tip) Waitress are unfriendly and you can wait a very long time for salt and pepper. Do not waste your time and your money at "Le cafe du monde"

we had during our stay in Quebec City. The place is huge, overcrowded, noisy, and we usually love service that is not rushed. That was a joke here. Not rushed? It took an hour and a half for our appetizers to come. A boring spinach salad with NO dressing was served. I had to ask for some. And then, the steak with potatoes? Not chargrilled, but yes rare as I asked, but with no flavor. It was served with fried potatoes that might have been cooked at any fast food place. Absolutely, a horrible dining experience.
