Sarah P. Duke Gardens
In the early 1920s, planners were set to create a lake in the valley that is now Duke Gardens. Funds were short back then and they began planting instead. Now, this is one of the most beautiful scenes around. Comprised of three main sections, the original terraces, the Blomquist garden of native plants and the Culberson Asiatic arboretum, the gardens are a treat all year round but make their best show in spring when the tulips are blooming. Bring a picnic and set out a blanket among the flora or just relax under a shady tree. Admission is free.
No dislike about this experiece sorry it took so long to write a review. I am going back there next month in august again and taking my mom and aunt, they just love all flowers trees etc. We are from Ohio and i live in Florida rite now so its a meeting in the middle and North Carolina is one of the most beautifull states. I cant wait for my mom and aunt to see the gardens and just relax and walk around, and see all the different flowers, trees, bushes that are able to exist is North Carolina. Some plants are from Ohio,Florida, tenn,PA, its just great.
My wife and I visited the gardens back in October, had a wonderful time. While walking along a beautiful path I noticed an acorn on the ground, I picked it up and brought it back to Alabama where we live. I placed it in a pot in October and in the Spring it germinated and is now about one foot tall. I plan to move it to the yard this fall and I would love to know if it is a special oak, would appreciate hearing from anyone who might have any knowledge about this tree
