Sleek and modern with one foot firmly in the Old World is the feeling at Perbacco. The restaurant boasts a brick wall original to the historic 1913 Hind building, with other touches such as a bar top and floor tiles made from white Carrara marble. With 16 seats at the bar and 7 more intimate tables, Perbacco creates an atmosphere for a glass of wine or a light bite. Perbacco also features 2 dining rooms, one on the main floor and a smaller one on the Mezzanine, which has the added allure of serving as "theater", with windows to watch all the action in the kitchen below. Chef Staffan Terje strives to cook the finest food reflecting the Italian regions of Piemonte and Liguria. Handcrafted, house-made salami, prosciutto and other meats are featured at the salumi bar. Filled pastas, a tradition in Piemonte, range from the traditional ravioli to the more exotic agnolotti. Main courses feature traditional dishes such as Bollito Misto and milk-braised pork shoulder with Savoy cabbage.
I gotta say this is one of the best Italian restaurants I have been to in San Francisco. You have to try the parpadelle with short rib ragu - its almost better than you know what. Also try some of their salami appetizers which I found out that they make on the premises. Very friendly wait staff who pay every attention to detail.
We had our wedding celebration dinner in the Barolo room. It was so much better than I could have imagined. The room was beautiful, the service was amazing, and the food and wine were perfection. Our guests were so impressed and have given us so many compliments. It was a great night. Perbacco made our wedding day awesome!
I dined there March 7, 2012 and I had food poisoning and so did my guest. I was shocked that owner did not believe me when I called to complain next day. I eat out 4 times per week and this was the worse experience ever.
I was visiting San Francisco last week and picked up take out from Perbacco. The meal was absolutely delicious. The heirloom tomato starter was as fresh as if just picked from the garden. The short rib main was super tender and tastey. I will definitely be back.

The Service was flawless and the food was even better.
Don't miss the house made salumi as well as the Truffle Herb
Gnocchi if it's on the menu. I would have paid quite a bit more
for the quality of food and dining.
My companion and I started with the chef's selection salumi
followed by the Gnocchi as a Secondi.
Finally the Rabbit for our final course. We couldn't consider anything other than an espresso to finish our meal.
We're local and eaters. If you want to eat Cyn is right you can go to Someplace cheaper and get more.
