Cotton Exchange Tavern
Since 1971, this affordable joint once occupied a cotton warehouse that dates to the 18th century, providing no-nonsense grub with an emphasis on low country goodness. Watch the comings and goings along the river as you enjoy great beef and seafood selections, including a wide range of fish prepared to order. Lighter entrees are also available, plus famous sandwiches, soups and tavern fare appetizers. For quick bites, grab a seat at the bar, which tends to get lively as the evening progresses.
Ate here our first night in town. Excellent, spicy crab chowder. Meal portions are substantial so take your appetite. One of best restaurants on River St! Families-dont be intimidated by bar when you enter, they have two separate dining rooms which are family ready. Great place!
The food was great. The crab chowder , wow. The clam chowder was real good to. The fried grooper just melted in your mouth. They had stuff there for the non seafood lover also. The wait staff and front of house very good also, they were proffecional and looked as if they were really enjoying themselves . Will go again.
Great food, great location! A must visit while in Savannah. Their special potato salad is worth the trip. When we plan another visit to Savannah, we will hit the Cotton Exchange first. Nice atmosphere.
I love the Cotton Exchange, the food always has been great when i have eaten there. As a former Savannah resident i truly miss this place. They have the best seafood stuffed mushrooms i have ever had.The hamburgers are out of this world as is the Tavern Duo with Shrimp and Scallops.
We eat here every time we visit Savannah. Window tables offer a fascinating view of the river traffic! The crab cakes are the best we've tasted! The crab stew is excellent and the shrimp salad is a must! Don't miss it!
