If it was not for the Mountain View the restaurant will be out of business....poor service, $40 for 2 pizzas. Sat at an empty bar & took bartender 10 minutes to greet us. Pizza was poor quality. Decor is like an old cafeteria. This is our 3rd time here- lesson learned- never going back!
Reviewed June 2, 2011 - NEW 3people found this review helpfulMy wife and I are new to the area we have been here a little over 3 years and had never been to Lake Lure until this spring. Our first visit to the lake we stopped for lunch at La Strada and to put into one word WOW. The service, the food, the atmosphere, the view.
Again WOW. If you are ever in the Lake Lure area this La Strada is a must try experience. My wife had the baby back ribs and I had the shrimp and scallops. The ribs melted in your mouth and the shrimp and scallops were cooked to perfection.
Small town friendly service with a smile. If you are looking for a restautant that provides great food a wonderful atmosphere and the best service that can be found anywhere then La Stada is what your looking for.

I took my family to this restaurant since the day they opened back in 2005. I stopped going last year because of the declining quality of the food and service. Cold food, long waits, and watered down drinks seemed to become the norm after the economy began to slip in 2008, and the spectacular view just doesn't make up for it. The last straw came last summer when it took them an hour to serve me a plate of soggy cold seafood (must be one of those quaint ancestral dishes) while tables running up big drink tabs were getting what they wanted, even when seated after us. It wasn't rush hour, and the restaurant was less than half full. The manager tried to insist I pay for the meal, but I refused. He didn't even offer to make it up, just insisted on getting paid. After 5 years of steady patronage and thousands of dollars worth of business from my family and friends he'd rather have $11 for a poorly delivered meal than continued revenue from a repeat satisfied customer, I guess. Never again!
“Exceptional In Every Way”
La Strada, a family owned restaurant for 36 years, provides much more than consistently excellent cuisine from ancestral family recipes , although I admit that as a local, I'd return again and again for the food alone. Everything is made from scratch with the freshest ingredients and it shows. Personal service with warmth and a genuine desire to make each diner's experience memorable,is the other reason I come back again and again. By my second visit, I felt like a member of the family. One warning: if craving La Strada's pistachio encrusted trout, arrive before 7 p.m. because this exquisite dish sells out early. If so, don't dismay: there is nothing on this diverse menu that would disappoint. The ambiance, whether inside or out on the balcony overlooking the beach and mountains, is relaxing and comfortable, and restaurant is always spotlessly clean. La Strada satisfies in all ways. So...next time you find yourself driving down Memorial Highway towards Lake Lure, resist the urge to focus on the lake and look up to your left and then turn left and drive up the hill. That's one decision you will never regret.
We recently dined at La Strada's in Lake Lure, NC. The food was excellent and the staff treated us with respect and made us feel important. We were there in mid September with our Church group (16). We liked it so well that we returned on Oct. 16th to celebrate a family birthday with a group (11). Again the everyone was very happy with the food, and the view of the Lake was great.
We are planning to return soon.

LA Strada is one of our favorite dining establishments. The food is prepared and cooked with pride and care. The family owned atmosphere totally outshines the corporate owned giants we are all too familiar with. The pizza and entres are fresh, soups are great, and the menu is creative!!! The owners are kind people with wonderful personallities. The establishment has a million dollar view, is well maintained and clean!!!!!!!
We were warmly greeted and seated a group of 6 promptly.
Our waitress handled our grouup efficiently and unintrusively.
We were visited by both managers on duty.
