Soul Mountain Cafe, Front Royal

We have lived in 6 urban areas and even a year in the Caribbean for a year. Chef Gary puts out the most flavorful food anywhere. I would give his menu 5 stars . If you haven't been there you are missing out on some really interesting and tasty food. Some comments above are valid on service occasionally but it remains our favorite place in the Valley.

If you know the Front Royal area, you'll know that it's not exactly an urban setting. So imagine my surprise when we found a Caribbean restaurant in the heart of the town. We went in for lunch and had the best sandwiches and wraps I've had in a long time. The variety was great and the taste was even better. The jerk chicken was amazing, the service was very friendly and the atmosphere was very relaxing. I am very happy with my experience there and I will make a point of going to Front Royal more often just so I can eat at Soul Mountain again!

They left the doors open during a rain shower, which led to a plethora of fruit flies swarming around the tables. AND it was a hot, steaming summer day, so it was pretty miserable inside. It took quite a long time to get our meals, and they were less than amazing when they finally came. On top of it all, the tables are crowded and the prices for the so-so meals are overpriced. Not impressed.

OUTSTANDING IS THE ONLY WORD THAT FITS, the menu items are varied enough for any taste, the portions are large, and the food itself was great and reasonably priced. Well worth the money and the drive. Bar prices were a little pricey but the drinks were good. Talked with the owner/chef, interesting guy and he loves his work. Of the 4 places in town we ate at this was the best by far, this guy should be in the city, Front Royal is lucky to have him.

Soul Mountain is absolutely not closed! I have been eating at this restaurant for over a year now and always have had a wonderful experience! The Barbeque Shack is closed for the season however you can get everything you got there at 300 E. Main Street in Front Royal.
