This is a clean, family-friendly local joint with friendly staff, good prices and surprisingly good and varied food. They run various specials like the $13.95 all you can eat ribs mentioned in an earlier review, there's a kids eat for a dollar night, Italian night, etc. They roast their own turkey for sandwiches and their garlicky potato salad is killer. If you're on 101 between King City and Salinas, this is one of the best sit-down restaurants off the highway.
I haven't been there in so long and I just went in last night. The place looks so different. No more old diner style, as I noticed it's open and clean. I enjoyed watching football on their plasmas while I inhaled three plates of their ribs for $13.95. Man, so good and I was full. I'll definitely be back here. Cool stuff.
Wow, I saw the last review and had to say something. My family and I have come to eat here since they've opened. The girls are all very nice, except for a couple of randoms that have come and gone. I never saw a problem with their uniforms. We were in there last week and they had on their standard black shirt and black pants. Looked like an appropriate uniform to me! :D The servers always have so much patience with our children when they order their meals. This place is clean, price friendly, FAMILY FRIENDLY and food is fresh. I love their tender steaks and delicious pastas. I think we will have to call in an order tonight! My advice would be don't let one bad review keep you from this place.
I recently when to eat at this location to enjoy there all you can eat ribs while traveling down North. It turns out, they are not all you can eat. My waitress was the only waitress runnign around. All the servers were dress far to provocative for a family friendly resturant. Hello, isnt there a dress code to follow. My server forgot about my drinks which was not good. She was too bussy walking in and out of the bar with other customers. There were other girls on the floor but they were behind the counter on there phones flirting with older gentlemen. I asked one of them to bring me by drinks and clam chowder but instead she said she was going to get my waitress rather than assisting me. I asked for more ribs. By the time my server came to me my appetite went away. I did not receive my check until an half an hour later the manager had to aid my server with her checks. I tipped my waitress because it was not her fault she had the entire floor by herself. I asked for the manager and a petite waitress said he was out of town, when i had seen him twenty minutes prior to leaving.
Both restaurants (Soledad and Gonzales)are still shining stars in South County, Salinas, and all of Monterey County. The prices are reasonable and the food is good.
I have recently eaten at two restaurants in Saliinas and was disappointed: Normas and First Awakenings.
