. . . and open Sunday night! We found 626 on Rood through a stroke of luck and thoroughly enjoyed the wine and food. We tried three appetizers, a flight of Pinot Gris and another flight of red wine, and split the house salad -- everything was delicious and very nicely presented. The chef uses local produce and somebody here really gets good food and its pairing with wine. Service is friendly and very relaxed. Located one block off Main in the historic downtown, 626 offers an urbane dimension to Grand Junction dining. We will definitely be back the next time we visit Grand Junction.
We had an exceptionally disappointing experience at 626 on Rood. The service was appalling (our server was slow and inattentive and actually overcharged us) and the food was overpriced and mediocre. I will never dine there again and would not recommend it to anyone.
The food and service here can be highly variable. Once you might have the delightful fine dining experience you were hoping for. Then twice you will have OK food and wine, then once you will have burnt soup and totally unseasoned black emperor's rice or a flight of soured wine.
